Transcript of CONNECTIONS NEWSLETTER · -DAS Learning Model for Oct. 27th-Jan. 20th: We will be sending families...
-DAS Learning Model for Oct. 27th-Jan. 20th: We will be sending families the second 9-week DAS Learning Model survey on Sept. 30th. On this survey, families will be able to choose our face-to-face model or our E-Learning model for the next 9 weeks (Oct. 27th-Jan. 20th). -Dismissal carline traffic flow: Please remember if you are entering the dismissal carline to turn onto San Christopher St. and go to the end of the carline. Please do not cut into the carline; go to the very end of the carline. This makes it fair for families who have been waiting in line. -NWEA Fall testing for Kindergarten students: We will be administering our NWEA language arts and math tests for all kindergarten students this coming week; Monday, Sept. 28th-Oct. 2nd. Please make sure your student is on-time to school and is well rested. For E-Learning students, we will be administering these tests via Zoom. You should have received emails from your child’s tester with the dates/times your child will be tested and the Zoom information to those testing sessions. Please check your email this week. Please contact your child’s teacher or me if you have any questions related to testing. NWEA assessments are administered for teachers and support staff to get a good idea of what your child's academic strengths and weaknesses are at the beginning of the school year so we can further differentiate the instruction to meet the specific needs of your child.

Mrs. Ranze’s Gifted Class News:
September 25, 2020
This week in Gifted Class we continued exploring
the Earth. Our focus was solar and lunar eclipses.
We drew the two types of eclipses in our
notebook and discussed them.
Each week we also do a mini break to solve a
problem or build to promote creative thinking
skills. This week my student selected building
with Jenga blocks and then must use creativity to
explain what he made.
Attached below are pictures of the student
completing his tasks. Please contact me with any
questions or concerns.

This Week
Here at the South Campus of DAS we have started our Soccer unit. For this unit we will
go over basic rules of the sport, and practice the necessary skills associated with the game.
This week we introduced soccer dribbling. Students learned the importance of proper soccer
dribbling. We practiced dribbling straight up and down our PE field, but also in different di-
rections by dribbling through cones. By doing this, students learned the importance of keep-
ing good control of the ball and not letting it get far away from their feet. For E-Learning, we
had an assignment on Dental Health, and students should have been getting at least 30
minutes of exercise each day, writing it down, and also completing their PE log of activities
they did last week.
Next Week
*Please remember to always have sneakers for PE. If your son/daughter wears
dress shoes or boots, please pack their sneakers to change into! Thank you
Email: [email protected]
Next week we will continue our Soccer unit and introduce soccer passing. We will also
have a Health lesson on “Healthy Hearts”. E-Learning will also have a Health lesson on
“Healthy Hearts” and will have to also get their daily exercise and fill out their PE log.
