When each of us had the waters of Baptism
poured over our heads with the Trinitarian formula, we
were then anointed on our foreheads with the rich, fragrant
oil – Chrism. In the Old Testament, priests, prophets and
kings were anointed with chrism.
With this anointing came our sharing in the
Priesthood of all believers, the Priesthood of the Laity.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the one eternal highpriest. Some
of us have been called to sacramental priesthood to serve
the Catholic community. But all the baptized share in our
Lord’s Priesthood through our Baptism.
And so, our Parish Pastoral Council.
We are in process. Our Parish Pastoral Council
has been in formation for several months and it’s really
exciting. Basing our PPC on the Lord’s great commission
(Matthew 28:19-20) to preach the Gospel to every nation
on earth, we are discerning how to make our own Mission
Statement relevant, challenging but do-able. The essential
elements of our parish mission – the Word, Worship,
Education, Community & Service – are practiced and
implemented in the very best way we can.
What is our parish vision? How do we have more
and more parishioners taking great “ownership” of our
parish? How can we make St. Aloysius an even greater
community of faith?
Our Parish Pastoral Council is advisory.
Our members include:
Brain Bambrick Kenneth Mihalik
Thomas Bergwall Stephen Rossi
Patty D`Angelo Gary Ruth
Mary Edwards Patricia Schaffer
Evan Guzman Lynda Vincenti
Sr. Donna Ciangio, O.P. and Sr. Alice Uhl, O.P.,
are shepherding us to a deeper understanding of parish
leadership and the importance of our new Council – “the
eyes and ears of the parish”.
Stayed tuned. Pray for us.
Msgr. Desmond
