Transcript of Confucianism assessment part 2 PDF
Hello young man i'm Kong Qiu but call me confucius, I will be
telling you my story!
This is where I was born, its called LU.
Ok Mr Confucius
sir
I was a social philosopher and thinker of the Zhou period, i focused on personal and public rights and
correctness on social relationships.
I was born at Lu in 552c. and sadly passed away in
479 BC. NO original text of what i taught have been
found in your modern day time, but my followers wrote down some of the
philosophy centuries after my death!
Fun fact
Confucianism is focussed on human morality AND GOOD DEEDS.
My ideas are mainly known for almost 500 statements and
observations
The statement and observations are called Lun Yu or The Analects
I have been said to treat my followers just as I treat my
family.
Society is based on strong family loyalty, ancestor
worship and respect of elders like me!
Are you getting all of this
Yes mr Confucus sir
Fun FactConfucius' father
died when confucius was
only three years of age.
I had little widespread influence in China during my
lifetime up until the start of the Qin period that my ideas had
gained importance
Some people said that Confucianism had the most influence on
chinas religious culture then any other
philosophy
In Confucianism there are various gods and
ancestors
I travelled from region to region with a small group of disciples just to teach other the ways
of confucianism
Fun FactThere are 6,300,00people in the world that practise confucianism
Ruler to subject Father to son
Elder brother to younger brother
Husband to wife
Friend to friend
This relationship means you should always treat your friends the way that you would like to be treated
you should treat your family the same way you would treat other people, even if they constantly annoy or argue with you.
Each person should give respect to their superior.Ie: Ruler to Subject. the superior however has to show loving responsibility to the inferior
This involves the same meaning as 'father to son' which states you should treat your family the way you treat others.
This relationship states the same meaning as Farther to son and also friend to friend.
At some points in my life i thought that i was a failure because i was
not famous for my teachings
My ethical teaching includes the following
valuesLi- ritual etiquette
hsiao- love within familyYi-righteousnessxin- honesty and trustworthiness
jen- loyalty
Fun FactConfucus married at the young age of 19 and had one boy and two girls.
confucianism says that you can't eat foods that:
Have rotted or turn stale
Smell bad or have changed in colour
They are not in season or has been preserved
Have been cooked much earlier before eating
Are overcooked or badly handledReheated, damaged by heat or stored in
damp place.
Are meat that have been kept for more than 3 days.
What Should be eaten is: a balance diet should consists of rice, meat and vegetables.
Rice must be the staple and make up the largest proportion of the meal.
Meat is nutritional but hard on the digestive system, so it should be taken in reasonable amount.
Vegetables are great supplements, but must never replace the first two.
Our meals should consist of a variety of colors and tastes, and have a inviting aroma.
Throughout your modern world there are five schools that
teach confucianism
The Han confucianism, the neo-confucianism, Korean confucianism,
Japanese confucianism and Singapore confucianism.
I once said that if you chose a job you like you will never
have to work a day in your life
This means that you will be doing what you enjoy so really you don't have
to work.
Fun Factconfucius divorced his wife after four years of marriage.
Thank you for listening to me I hope you learnt
something!!!
Oh yes Mr Confucius sir I definitely have learnt lots of
interesting things that i will tell my friends
Thats GOOD Timothy, I'm happy that you learnt
something
