IM=X (Integrated Movement Xercize) was developed over the past two decades in private training facilities, chiropractic offices, hospitals, gyms, corporate fitness centers, and physical therapy businesses; AND is now offered as a franchise. Our proprietary services integrate the principles of the Alexander Technique, J.H. Pilates, and proprietary core stabilization protocols for improving the Spine Stabilization System. Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Centers gain a unique edge in today's competitive market by providing a comprehensive program that facilitates pain free movement, trunk muscle strength, and overall fitness. IM=X combines manual/self traction, stabilization, active range of motion stretches, resistance exercises on our patented reformer (Xercizer), and posture re-education. Our goal is to add to your treatment process and develop a group of patients who become long-term members of your exercise program.

J.H. Pilates - The Legacy 1880-1967

Began in World War I. Then moved to NYC and worked with the professional dance community (1930’s-50’s) - programming was for extreme flexibility (unlike IMX which is medically based for the general population and has programs for more athletic clients).

Pilates language: Hundreds, Seal, Elephant, etc. Certifications hold to tradition whereas IMX has changed courses to include current research.

IMX language: Spine Stabilization, Spine Flexion, Back Extension, Hip ROM, etc

Page 12: Confidential IM=X Pilates Inc. | Copyright 2003| p 1p 1 IM=X® Medical Exercise IM=X®

Joe passed away in 1967 at age 87. He was ahead of his time but he did not have access to the research that we have incorporated into our protocols (I.e. studies on MRPs, APAs, muscle thickness and back pain, etc).

These pictures show traditional pilates exercises not used by IM=X® Pilates. IMX has its own routines which are safe and geered towards safely strengthening the Spine Stabilization System.

IM=X® Pilates physiological benefits:

• spine/hip elongation and decompression

• postural awareness

• spine/hip/shoulder mobility and flexibility

• muscle recruitment for injury prevention

• spine/hip/shoulder stabilization and alignment

• trunk muscle endurance/strength

• decrease muscle tension

1. Compression forces as occur in ADLs and exercise. Training needs to focus on

elongation against gravity; and the combination of elongation/stabilization when

accepting a load.

2. Optimal muscle recruitment patterns (MRPs) which are not inherent in BP and

elderly. Faulty MRPs contribute to spinal shearing and injury.

3. Hypertrophy of trunk stabilizers. Thickness of specific trunk muscles correlate

to back health and thus training must progressively challenge these key muscles.

4. Multiple movement strategies - finding the optimal support of requirements

under different weight bearing and limb exercises. Systematically challenging local

then global muscles. Training requires conditioning of the neuromuscular system

not single muscle fatigue.

5. Mobility or sub-maximal weighted range of motion exercises instead of

passive flexibility exercise.

6. Dynamic posture for effective long-term change of APA response during

loading. Age-related degeneration is inevitable without this component.

Franchise Facts

Most chiropractic and physical therapy offices have not made the shift into wellness and fitness; thus there is an opportunity to blend back wellness with fitness in a spa-like business. The highly fragmented pilates studio business in combination for the demand in elite pilates services has provided an opportunity for the IM=X® Pilates, Yoga, Back Care and Cardio franchise to grow within stand alone studios, physical therapy centers, chiropractic offices and fitness clubs.
