Education in Greece

Education in Greece• The Greek Education system comprises of three

grades: first, second and third. • It is a nine year compulsory system including the primary and high schools.

• The first grade is divided in two years kindergarten & six years primary school.

• The second grade is divided in three years high school & another three lyceum –general education or vocational orientation.

• The third grade or higher education is provided by Universities, Polytechnic Faculties and Higher Technical Institutions.

Education in GreeceAll grades and Institutions are supervised by the

Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sport.

They are obliged to follow the guidelines and control procedures of the Ministry as well as the decisions concerning the curricula and the recruitement of the staff. All Institutions are ministry-funded.

Private institutions exist at all grades and follow the ministerial jurisdiction.

• The school is located in the west side of Attica in the residential area of Aghiï Anargiri. The premises comprise of the main building for the theoretical lessons and a separate one for the vocational trainings. There are two playgrounds for basket ball and volley ball and a large parking area.

• EPA.L. meaning Professional Lyceum is a second grade school providing both a diploma of technical specialty and a certificate equivalent to the one provided by the Generar Education Lyceum.

• After graduation the students can continue with studies in a Higher Technical Institution or work in their field.
