Principal’s Report

Students in K-2 will be parading their wonderful millinery creations in the annual Easter Hat Parade this Thursday, 24 March ahead of the Easter long weekend. Family and community are invited to join us in the hall for a 12.45 pm start.

On behalf of the students and staff of Condobolin Public School, I would like to wish all a very safe long weekend with family and friends. Students and staff will return to school on Tuesday, 29 March for the last two weeks of the term.

Bus Travel

Recently, information was provided to families of students that regularly catch a bus to school.

Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 are eligible for free bus travel, regardless of the distance to school. Primary and high school students living within the town limits of Condobolin need to pay to travel by bus to and from school. Students that hold a bus pass can travel only on their own bus without further cost, however must pay to catch another bus.

Cricket Game – Change of Date

Our boys cricket team will be playing the Parkes Public School cricket team at the Condobolin SRA Grounds this Wednesday, 23 March. We wish the boys all the best in this second round game of the Cricket Knockout competition.

Cont.... Hearing Tests

We are fortunate again this year to have the opportunity for some students to have their hearing tested at school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 29 - 31 March. All students in Kindergarten to Year 2, and some students in Years 3 to 6 that have been identified as possibly having concerns with hearing, will receive notes that need to be returned as soon as possible.

Netball Knockout

Our girls’ netball team will play in the first round of the knockout against the students of Lake Cargelligo team on Wednesday, 30 March, at the Condobolin SRA Grounds.

Tummy Bugs

There continue to be cases of diarrhoea or vomiting in our community. Please seek medical assistance if your child develops a rash, shows signs of dehydration or the symptoms continue beyond a couple of days.

Hand washing before eating and after using the toilet is the best method of reducing the spread of diarrhoea and vomiting. Children should not be attending school if they have diarrhoea or vomiting. Please send a note to explain the reason for absences or ask for a medical certificate if you take your child to see a doctor.

Cross Country

All students will participate in the annual Cross Country event to be held on the school grounds on 1 April. Students have been training for the past few weeks.

P&C Meeting

The next P&C meeting will be held in the school library on Thursday, 7 April. All parents are welcome to attend.

Netball Registration 2016

There are dual methods of registration once you validate an email address you will have access to online rego (see Facebook for details) however, as a transition we will still be taking registration in person.

Final day to pay registration will be 2nd April (First playing day)

D Grade players are able to register as individuals this year and CAN will also be accepting individual nominations for other grades. Costs: Net Set Go (Funnet) - $50 D Grade - $65 A, B & C Grade - $75 Open - $100 Secondary membership (Dual rego) - $40 Non Playing Officials - $40

There are some new faces on the committee and we are looking forward to a fun 2016 season.

Condobolin Garden Festival invites children, parents and carers to take part in creating and entering a scarecrow to be displayed in one of the open gardens on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April. There are three Categories:

1. Comical 2. Traditional 3. Depicting a character.

Matthew Brasnett participated in the World’s Greatest Shave to raise money for Leukaemia. Matthew raised over $1300.

Harmony Day Assembly - Class 3F Last Friday, students in 3F presented the class item at our school assembly, celebrating Harmony Day. Children were dressed in colourful costumes to represent children from around the world and danced a well-choreographed item to the song “We Are All In This Together”. A wonderful attendance of peers, parents and community members ensured the children had an appreciative audience to dance for. Thank you to those who were able to come along to support our assembly.

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It is about including others, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Thank you to class teachers who organised their students to decorate Harmony Day dolls for the hall.

Condobolin Public School “Speak Up” Public Speaking Competition

Stage 2 and 3 students have been invited to participate in the Oxley Group CWA Public Speaking Contest to be held in Condobolin on Tuesday 31st May.

We will be holding a “Speak Up” public speaking event in order to select the four speakers who will represent Condobolin Public School at this event.

This event will be held early in Term 2. Children who would like to participate in this event are asked to prepare a 2 minute speech. Students will need to choose one of the following topics –

Years 3/4 I Just Don’t Understand I Can’t Wait ‘Whatever Happened To My Kitchen?’ Said Mum

Years 5/6 If I Could Be Someone Else Family Matters Sport Is A Health Hazard

Students are asked to work on their speeches in their own time, however Ms Horvat will be available on Fridays during recess to assist children who would like some support. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are invited to attend our K-2 Infants Easter Hat Parade on Thursday 24th March 2016.

This event will be held in the school hall commencing 12.45pm. Students will perform an item and

then take part in an Easter Parade showing off their magnificent hats which students will create

during class. Alternatively your child can make a hat at home and bring in to wear on the day.

Judges will award students for their creative efforts.

We are looking forward to sharing this occasion with the student’s families and friends.

Game format is as follows: Under 7’s-onfield coach, no contact, two handed touch only. Under 9’s supported full contact (coach on field) and Under 11’s modified full contact. .oth boys and girls are welcome to play. It is not compulsory to enter all gala days so parents and coaches can decide week to week which gala days to attend. It is a great day of fun where players get a good amount of game time, practise learned skills, make friends and gain self-confidence.
