Principal’s Report
Last Thursday I was extremely proud to join approximately a third of our students and staff in the town Anzac Day March. Returned servicemen commented on how well attended by students this year’s march was, perhaps the best in many years. I would like to commend the children on their magnificent behaviour, displaying respect and patience on this solemn occasion. Our thanks also go to the parents and carers who ensured that students were able to participate.
I was equally proud of all students on the last day of Term 1 when our school held a commemorative Anzac Service. Each class had been learning about the significance of Anzac Day, making a floral wreath that was laid during the service. Students, staff and community members were fortunate to listen to a special address by Mr Keith Hartin, representing the RSL. The significance of the Anzacs has not been forgotten by our younger generations.
New Staff
We welcome Miss Kobi Rutherford to our school. Miss Rutherford will be teaching the students in 5/6R as well as undertaking the role of Assistant Principal, supervising Stage 3. She has come to us from Lake Cargelligo Central School.
At this time, a new teacher has not been appointed to Condobolin Public School. In an effort to reduce the impact of this situation Mrs L’Estrange will be teaching the students in 3/4K until further notice.
Mrs Raylene Jones has been appointed Assistant Principal supervising Stage 1. We would like to congratulate Mrs Jones on this appointment.
Cross Country
Our annual Cross Country event will be held this Friday, 3rd May.
Students will be running in the morning session, with our infants students starting from around 9.30am. We expect that the senior students should have finished running by 11.30am. Students will be in class when their age division is not running. Volunteers are needed to help with marshalling positions around the track. Please contact the office.
Schools in Partnership Funding
Up until the end of last year our school had been receiving Schools in Partnership funding. At the end of last term we received a significant amount of Transitional Funding.
A meeting is being called to consult with parents and carers of Aboriginal students to identify how this funding will best support students in at least one of the following areas:
1. Readiness for school 2. Engagement and connections 3. Attendance 4. Literacy and numeracy 5. Leadership, quality teaching and workforce development
