SUNKEN SLAB - PREREQUISITE FOR SUPERSHIELD WATERPROOFING TREATMENT
l The SUNKEN SLAB that is to be treated should be minimum 7 days old.
l The pipe penetrations through the horizontal brick walls should be packed and plastered to a
minimum thickness of 25 mm with the ratio of 1:3 cement mortar.
l The side walls that are of non-concrete should be plastered to a minimum thickness of 25 mm with the
ratio of 1:3 cement mortar to a height of minimum 6" above the nearest floor level.
SUPERSHIELD SPECIFICATION AND APPLICATION METHODOLOGY
Provide, mix and brush apply one coat of SUPERSHIELD CRYSTALGUARD ULTIMA, single compound Deep
Penetrating Capillary (DPC) waterproofing system that generates a non-soluble crystalline formation of dendritic
fibers within the pores and capillary tracts of the concrete with hard surface finish @ 0.8 Kg/m² on the sunken
slab and to the side walls that are of concrete to the height of 2" above the nearest floor level.
Provide, mix and brush apply two coats of SUPERSHIELD FLEXI, two component material that forms seamless
flexible membrane @ 1.2 Kg/m² on the side walls to height of 2" above the nearest floor level. The coating should
overlap a minimum 1” over the crystalline coating at th junction.

1) Surface preparation - The concrete substrate that is to be applied with SUPERSHIELD CRYSTALGUARD
ULTIMA must be free from foreign materials and to be micro cleaned by mechanical means like wire brushing or
vacuum cleaning.
2) Pre-wetting - Concrete surface must be thoroughly saturated with clean water prior to the coating to ensure
moisture presence inside the pores and capillaries and remove any excess water to ensure surface is touch dry
while coating.
3) Mixing of CRYSTALGUARD ULTIMA - Mix SUPERSHIELD CRYSTALGUARD ULTIMA powder with clean water
to form a slurry consistency with 5 parts of powder and 2 parts of water.
4) Application of CRYSTALGUARD ULTIMA - Apply one coat of SUPERSHIELD CRYSTALGUARD ULTIMA as a

SUNKEN SLAB - PREREQUISITE FOR SUPERSHIELD WATERPROOFING TREATMENT
l The that to be treated should be minimum 7 days old
l The pipe penetrations through the horizontal brick walls should be packed and plastered to a
minimum thickness of 25 mm with 1:3 cement mortar
l The side walls that are of non-concrete should be plastered to a minimum thickness of 25 mm with 1:3
cement mortar to a height of minimum 6" above the nearest floor level.
SUPERSHIELD SPECIFICATION AND APPLICATION METHODOLOGY
Provide, and spray apply one coat of SUPERSHIELD MULTISEAL 100, water based colorless liquid enhanced
with Multiseal technology that forms hydrated and hygroscopic crystals in the pores and capillary tracts of the
concrete with a repellant barrier finish on the surface @ 200 ml/m² on to the sunken slab and to the side walls that
are of concrete to the height of 2" above the nearest floor level.
Provide, mix and brush apply two coats of SUPERSHIELD FLEXI, two component material that forms seamless
flexible membrane @ 1.2 Kg/m² on to the side walls to a height of 2" above the nearest floor level. The coating
should overlap a minimum of one inch over the crystalline coating at the junction.

Watch Points
Performance Criteria
1) Surface preparation - The concrete substrate that to be applied with SUPERSHIELD MULTISEAL 100 must be
free from foreign materials and to be micro cleaned by mechanical means like wire brushing or vacuum cleaning.
2) Pre-wetting - Concrete surface must be thoroughly saturated with clean water prior to the coating to ensure
moisture presence inside the pores and capillaries and remove any excess water and ensure surface is
predominantly dry while coating to enhance MULTISEAL 100 impregnation.
3) Mixing of MULTISEAL 100 - No mixing is required and should not be diluted with water or by any other means.
4) Application of MULTISEAL 100 - Apply one coat of SUPERSHIELD MULTISEAL 100 evenly by means of
spraying and ensure the surface is completely impregnated with MULTISEAL 100.
Continue with the SUPERSHIELD FLEXI membrane coating on to the non-concrete substrate after 8 hours of
crystalline coating.
5) Mixing of FLEXI - Mix SUPERSHIELD FLEXI A component (Powder) with SUPERSHIELD FLEXI B
Component (Liquid) as per the pre-measured packaging.
6) Application of FLEXI - Apply the first coat of SUPERSHIELD FLEXI as a slurry consistency on to the non-
concrete plastered side walls, overlapping the crystalline coating for 2" at the junction.
7) Second coat FLEXI - Apply the second coat of SUPERSHIELD FLEXI as a slurry consistency on to the first coat
after a minimum of 4 hours gap.
l The SUPERSHIELD MULTISEAL 100 coating should be air cured and protected from water/ rain for at least
four hours.
l The SUPERSHIELD FLEXI coating should be air cured for a minimum of 3 days and protected from water/
rain for a minimum of 18 hours.
Cracks, Horizontal, vertical joint sealing, tie hole, pipe penetrations, construction joints, expansion joints and
other defects in the concrete which is to be waterproofed should be treated as per SUPERSHIELD specification
and application methodologies.
Crystalline waterproofing system should meet or exceed the performance requirements as specified herein.
l Crystalline Penetration : Crystallizing capability of waterproofing material shall be evidenced by
independent SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) photographs documenting penetration of needle like
crystal formation deep within concrete.

l Self-healing capability and permeability resistance : Independent testing performed according to U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers CRD-C48-73 "Permeability of Concrete".
l Testing on the effectiveness of coating from negative side of concrete : Independent testing that
demonstrates the capability of the coating to seal the leakage/dampness from negative side.
l Resistance to chloride ion penetration : Independent testing performed according to ASTM C 1202-03
should exhibit a resistance of 100% better than that of the untreated specimen.
l Potable Water Approval : Independent testing shall be performed according to EN or NSF Standard 61, and
approval for use of waterproofing material on structures holding potable water shall be evidenced.
A) Manufacturer : Manufacturer should publish a third party product quality assurance certificate from a notified
body with continuous surveillance audit or CE certificate with FPC (Factory production control) as the per the
harmonized standard EN to prove that the facility from where the material is produced for the project has
undergone the required testing and extensive inspection and is under continuous surveillance by a notified body
appointed by the European union as per the European norms for the system. Manufacturers who cannot provide
the performance test data specified herein and FPC certificate shall not be considered for the project.
B) Applicator : Waterproofing applicator shall be experienced in the installation of cementitious
crystalline waterproofing materials and shall be approved by the manufacturer in writing.
A) Manufacturer's Warranty : Manufacturer shall provide standard product warranty executed by authorised
company official.
B) Applicator's Warranty : Applicator shall warrant the waterproofing installation against defects caused by
faulty workmanship or materials for a period of (specify term) years from Date of Substantial Completion. The
warranty will cover the surfaces treated and will bind the applicator to repair, at his expense, any and all leaks
through the treated surfaces which are not due to structural weaknesses or other causes beyond applicator's
