Open computer an! reseat memorySometimes when the computer is moved and2or over time a memory stickcan become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory orget errors as it6s reading it. Try )ing this issue by opening the computerremoving each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and thenplacing them back into the computer.

#. Swap memory locationIf reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location ofthe memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer trymoving it to another slot and then boot the computer.

If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick ofmemory and boot the computer. If this does not resolve the issue tryremoving that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory.

$. Try another computers memoryIf you have access to another computer that uses the same type of memorytry using its known good memory in your computer.

If another computers memory works you know that you have bad memory.

If another computers memory does not work and it is compatible with yourcomputer unfortunately your motherboardand2or the slots on themotherboard are defective causing it to be unable to properly read thememory" which means the motherboard will have to be replaced.

If this resolves your irregular post or you now get an error message attemptto reFconnect each device one at a time to determine which device and orcable is causing the issue. In some situations it can also be simply a loosecable connection that causes the issue.

. Remoe the R/0If you continue to receive the same problem with all the above hardwareremoved attempt to disconnect the 34,from the ,otherboardand turn onthe computer. If the computer has a di5erent beep code or if your computerwas not beeping and is now beeping turn o5 your computer and try the ne)tsuggestions. ,aking sure to turn o5 the computer each time you6re addingand removing the memory and then turning the computer back on to see ifthe suggestion resolves the issue.

11.Try one stic& of memory in each slot.If you6re able to get the computer to boot with one or more of the sticks ofmemory it6s likely you6re dealing with some bad memory. Try to identify whichstick of memory is bad and replace it.

If you6re able to get memory to work in one slot but not another slot. Jou6remotherboard is defective you can either workaround the issue by running thememory in a di5erent slot or replace the motherboard.

1".Power cycle the computerIn some situations a computer may have power related issues often causedby either the power supply and2or the motherboard. To help determine if thisis the cause of your issue try turning the computer on" o5" and back on asfast as possible" making sure the computer power light goes on and o5 eachtime. In some situations you may be able to temporarily get the computer toboot.

This should only be used as a temporary workaround if you6re able to get thisto work. Often this is good for users who may have not done a backup andneed to get the computer up one more time to copy les before starting toreplace hardware.
