    At a glance

The greatest advantage of our central, logical and powerful SELOGICA control unit is the fact that it makes ever more complex injection moulding pro cesses increasingly easy to master. However, the SELOGICA not only manages all ALLROUNDER machines, but also all robotic systems, peripheral equipment and processes. Made by ARBURG Made in Germany. Co-ordinated man-agement of complex injection mould-ing processes can only be achieved easi-ly and conveniently using the SELOGICA system. By continuously further devel-oping our control technology, we ensure you stay ahead of the compe-tition in the long term. Because if you can program complex machine sequen-ces effectively and transparently, you have complete control over production.

    1 Central management

The SELOGICA system is designed for uni-versal use in the programming and control of all known injection moulding processes. By offering simple integration of a variety of peripherals, the control system can be used even for managing complete produc-tion cells. The SELOGICA system saves time and costs thanks to its uniform operating concept. This means fewer training require-ments and no change of approach by your operators when a number of different ALLROUNDERs are in use. Operation is ren-dered highly cost-effective thanks to the full range of synchronisation options for robot and machine movements offered by the central control system. The result being that short cycle times can be pre-programmed. The management of settings data is simpler than ever; there is only one data record for the complete production unit.

    2 Intuitive operation

All data can be accessed immediately, rap-idly and simply via the 15-inch SELOGICA touchscreen. The graphic operating system, which is compatible with a wide variety of technologies, is self-explanatory. The unique sequence editor with patented, real-time plausibility check always clearly indicates the logical position of the current programming step. This prevents operating errors right from the start. Full data-record compatibility during all development stages of the con-trol system ensures smooth moulded part production. Rapid orientation and famil-iarisation of the operating personnel takes place in an easily-assimilated manner via the patented topic navigation, self-explanatory controls and a clear graphic display. Com-plex injection moulding technology is ren-dered easy to operate.

    3 Fast setup times

The input logic of the SELOGICA system is based around the mould setup sequence and optimisation of the injection moulding process. Setup-time and cost savings can be achieved by means of clearly laid out screen pages with tables and graphics, as well as simple sequence programming via graphic symbols. This makes even complex sequences more comprehensible and transparent. The Set-up Assistant module supports daily operations from menu-guided mould installation and automatic calculation of the parameters through to teach-in of the finished sequence no in-depth knowledge required. Equally convenient in terms of the human/machine interface is the teach-in function for robotic systems.

    4 Reliable optimisation

Simple and reliable control of complex sys-tems this is the domain of the SELOGICA system. The control system contributes to high process stability and reproducibility by means of precise control of temperatures (adaptive in this case), pressures, speeds and positions. Moreover, extensive options for process optimisation, monitoring and docu-mentation are available. Despite all these alternatives, the SELOGICA always offers a clear display and immediate accessibility.

Numerous mould protection, diagnostic and support functions, such as the maintenance display, all fall under the topic of machine monitoring. All messages are displayed conveniently in plain text, so that operators always know precisely what action has to be taken.Owing to its high degree of integrated functionality, the SELOGICA system is suited not only for the optimum implementation of todays process requirements. It is excep-tionally flexible and therefore ideally pre-pared today for the demands of tomorrow.

    Intuitive operator guidance

Drag and drop: fast and convenient adaptation

    of graphics.

    1 Ergonomic screen design

Fast, direct access to data is vital during production. The SELOGICA system provides this thanks to operator guidance that is selectable according to the working situa-tion. For example, topic navigation with a permanently displayed structure for greater clarity, sequence navigation for direct screen selection from the production sequence and the direct jump fields for fast access to the process optimisation feature.

    2 Simple parameter entry

Parameters can be optionally entered via tables or graphics; different functions are assigned unambiguous colour codes. The display generally faces the direction of the respective movements. This makes the operating system extremely easy to under-stand, as it is strictly based on the practical setup procedures used at injection mould-ing plants.

When is a machine control system ergo-nomic and intuitive to operate? When it is equipped and functions like the SELOGICA. Its user interface is fully based on the specific requirements at your production facility. Hence the 15-inch touchscreen features high brightness and contrast as well as gen-erously sized control buttons. The hih degree of clarity ensures significantly faster and more direct access to data and the easy-to-understand graphical operating system enhances practical usability. This makes familiarisation of the operating personnel uncomplicated and reduces time spent on training at your injection moulding plant. With ARBURG, greater ease of operation brings you decisive added value.

    Credit-card format: Selective access authorisation

    for control data.

    4 Convenient parameter entry

Plain text displays make work easy and convenient. The three direct access keys can be individually assigned to provide direct, selective access to data. In addition, all the parameters that are important for a data record can be combined on freely configur-able pages. This enables you to create a parameter-based authorisation system.

    3 Reliable parameter entry

User identification is achieved using RFID card technology according to Euromap. Data entry can be limited by means of ac-cess authorisation. All changes are logged according to user, ensuring unambiguous traceability. Data entry can be performed via numerical values, from a selection list or as text in separate pop-up windows. Setting-range limits are indicated on the display.

    Menu-guided set-up

The Set-up Assistant module offers you active support in setting up machines in every situation. From mould change and the automatic calcu-lation of parameters through to teach-in of the finished production sequence, your operators are guided step-by-step through all the necessary actions. The work of parameter entry is reduced to an absolute minimum. This simulta-neously establishes an efficient work sequence. In addition, the system remains open to subsequent adjust-ments and optimisations.Providing practical solutions is the major advantage of the SELOGICA. Your technicians workload is effective-ly reduced, as the complete injection moulding process can be set up individ-ually without in-depth knowledge of the control system.

Efficient mould changeThe required mould removal and installation steps are pre-defined, are simply executed one after the other and confirmed on a central screen page. The control system automatically executes sub-sequences, such as referencing (zeroing) individual axes, at a single push of a button. No parameters need to be entered.

    2 Automatic calculation

Very little process-related data has to be en-tered in order to have the basic processing parameters such as temperature, pressure and speed calculated automatically. The SELOGICA system features a comprehensive database for this purpose, which can be ex-tended with the customers own material at any time. Here, individual selection options

    cient work sequence.

make it possible to redefine just the tem-perature of the injection unit, for example, when changing the material. Furthermore, all the available monitoring and log func-tions can be automatically initialised at the click of a button. The usual entry of param-eters in a variety of screens and the selection of various monitoring and log functions can therefore be completely dispensed with.

    3 Teaching the production sequence

Here, all the operator has to do is execute and confirm the necessary movements one after the other. All parameter entries and the completion of the production sequence run automatically in the background. Moni-toring functions such as the position for mould protection, for example, are deter-mined during guided set-up or teach-in. Robotic sequences can also be created in this way.

    Intelligent graphic sequence programming

The necessary flexibility of your injec-tion moulding processes, combined with maximum transparency, are assured by just one individually adapt-able, graphic sequence-programming screen. For this purpose, SELOGICA fea-tures the patented real-time plausibili-ty check, for example, which eliminates incorrect entries during set-up, and also the full integration of robotic systems. Typically ARBURG: providing simple solutions to complex problems, leading to much greater cost efficiency for your injection moulding plant.

Selective entry of process stepsFast access to the available sequence sym-bols is made easier through logical group-ing. The sequence editor suggests the suitable machine and application-related sequence symbols and their positioning. This means that start-up and shut-down sequences or stroke-related starting during simultaneous machine movements, for example, can be configured with ease.

    2 Simple creation of process

sequencesFor the sake of simplicity, the SELOGICA system operates with predefined basic se-quences for the applicable machine equip-ment, which can be rapidly and individually adapted to all mould-specific production tasks. This enables easy editing of operating steps; the relevant parameter pages can be directly selected from the sequence editor.

    Highlights

    3 Simultaneous plausibility check

One unique selling proposition of the SELOGICA system with respect to compara-ble machine control systems is its patented real-time plausibility check. The control sys-tem already displays the logical positioning of the current process step during sequence programming and checks that operator en-tries are complete. Operators are thus pro-vided the best possible support during pro-

gramming. Thanks to these user-friendly preventive measures, the programming of even highly complex sequences and processes is simple, clear and reliable. Complex set-up operations such as injec-

closing), venting, compression injection moulding and the tandem mould process can be performed without any problems.

    Targeted process optimisation

    Process optimisation and documentation

    1 Targeted process optimisation

As a universal aid for process optimisation, freely-configurable process graphics are used in the SELOGICA system. Operation is made even more convenient through the option of automatically configuring the process graphics. Direct intervention is en-sured through the display of all signals. The recorded signals can be measured using the cursor while production is in progress. Op-erators can thus directly influence product

A machine control system that can be put to effective use must of course also offer operators extensive process-opti-misation, monitoring and documenta-tion options. Only then can competi-tive production at minimum unit costs be achieved. The SELOGICAs numerous ingenious control options cannot fail to impress in this respect. For example, the production data can be output, saved or transmitted to higher-order systems via various interfaces with exceptional flexibility. And a particular advantage: your experts have all the tools at their fingertips that they need to recognise and immediately imple-ment optimisation measures often without additional costs.

quality, detect problems in a targeted man-ner, while preventively reducing cycle times and reject parts. All these features ensure greater economy and quality throughout the production process.

    Effective quality control

    2 Detailed process monitoring

An easy-to-record reference curve forms the basis of monitoring graphics for individual online supervision of quality limit values. Graphical evaluations of this kind can be created in the form of peak or mean values, envelopes or integrals. Up to eight of these monitoring graphics are provided by the SELOGICA system.

    3 Effective quality control

Here also, a high level of convenience is a priority of all the available features: refer-ence values and tolerance ranges for actual process values can be determined automati-cally and the set tolerances monitored in detail. If reject parts are produced, these can be separated out via a sorter unit or robotic system. The evaluation of fault cycles aids the targeted prevention of reject parts.

    4 Seamless process documentation

The individual recording of actual quality-relevant process values takes place via the production log. This also forms the basis for all statistical evaluations. The complete production sequence is displayed via a log graphic. Correlations and variances can thus be evaluated immediately and quality docu-mented in detail.

    1Single operating system

Being able to use just one control system for injection moulding machines, robotic systems and peripherals brings considerable added value to everyday production. Through the intuitive operating system

for reduced training effort Through the clear, graphic programming

Through higher-level production control and documentation

A control system is only truly universal if it can also manage equipment and processes beyond the machine itself. This is why the SELOGICA fully inte-grates robotic systems and peripheral devices in your production processes, enabling central, effortless manage-ment of entire production cells. Here too, the SELOGICA philosophy of the central human/machine interface achieves considerable time and cost savings, while simultaneously maximis-

working can only be comprehensively achieved with uniform, all-embracing injection moulding management.

Through the central monitoring and actua tion of peripherals in co-ordination with machine movements

As well as robotic systems, mould heating circuits can also be directly activated. This means that the SELOGICA completely takes on the task of control. Commercially available peripheral devices can also be easily integrated via standardised interfaces. Monitoring inputs enable

3 Central storage of setting data

With the SELOGICA, Compact Flash cards ensure convenient, comprehensive data storage. One data record contains all the parameters for the entire production unit, enabling simpler, faster and more reliable data management and set-up. Individual notes included. 1 Cycle time diagram

With the cycle time diagram, the current run times of each individual cycle step are graphically contrasted with previously defined reference values. Moreover, these sub-processes are broken down into start, delay and run time. In this way, all the necessary information for analysing and optimising a production cycle is contained on a single screen page. Unproductive time can be recognised and avoided through the better co-ordination of sub-processes. Any deviations that occur in the production process can be allocated immediately to the respective function, without having to open individual parameter pages. The more com-plex the processes become, the more useful this tool is.

    2 Maintenance display

Depending on the configuration of the ALLROUNDER machine, all the necessary maintenance data and intervals are already stored as plain text. As an option, individual maintenance specifications, relating to peri-pherals used, for example, can be entered manually. In this way, a clear maintenance plan can be generated for the entire pro-duction unit including the monitoring of due dates and automatic reminders for forthcoming maintenance work. In addi-tion, the SELOGICA records the correct completion of pending maintenance work in a maintenance log. As a result, every completed maintenance task remains fully transparent, also providing ideal verification for audits and certifications.

Optimisation potential at a glance: clear graphic display in the cycle time diagram.

To enable you to freely configure your injection moulding processes, optimise your settings and, ultimately, produce as efficiently as possible, the SELOGICA control system offers a virtually inex-haustible variety of functions. Automatic start-up/shutdown with indi-vidual start-up and shutdown sequenc-es, cycle time diagrams and mainte-nance displays all features focus con-sistently on your everyday production. This begins with set-up and continues through to individual process optimi-sation. As you know, a machine is only ever as good as its control system. And this is where SELOGICA sets standards.
