The Indian Merchant ChambersSet up In 1907, the 108-year old lndlan Merchants’ Chamber Is an apex Chamber of trade, commerce & industry with headquarters in Mumbai. II has about 3200 diract members, comprising a cross section of the business community, including public and private limited companies and over 225 trade and industry associations through which the Chamber reaches out to over 2,50,000 business establishments In the country. IMC is the first Chamber in India lo get ISO 9002-2000 certification which has since been upgraded to ISO 9001:2008.
IMC, set up in Iha wake d lhe ‘Swadeshi Movement’ by the visionary business leaders, has done a yeoman service during the freedom struggle of India. Hance, the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi accepted the Honoray Membership of IMC, the only Chamber in the country which has this priviledge. IMC has always worked towards the cause of upliftment of the Society, and has been organising seminars, workshops, etc. for promotion of trade and investment and extending the hand of cooperation to the Sociely at the time of natural calamities like flood, earthquakes, etc. IMC is always seized of of the contemporay socio economic issues and make best effort to find out the solution. We have been constantly fighting for ‘good governance’ and the Issues llke corruption, as IMC believes thal good govemance Is a panacea to th complex problems of India.
A Century of Service to the Nation has three distinct phases: • A crucial role in freedom struggle in the pre-independence era (1907-1947). • A vital and an equally important role in the promotion of trade, commerce & industry in the planned economy in the post-independent
era (1947-1991)• Promotion of business to become globally competitive in the post-liberalisation era (1991-2014).
IMC celebrated its Centenary in 2006-07. The celebration was launched by former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Also as recognition of the services rendered by IMC, a commemorative postal stamp was released by the Department of Post, Government of India. The closing ceremony of the celebrations was done at the hands of Mr. P. Chidambaram, former Finance Minister, Government of India.
The experts would talk about the issues and the solutions compiling to the field of HR, taxation, and labour laws both from the Indian and International perspective. This event is one of its kind which looks at skill development especially among the professionals at the execution level. The Make in India program is to enhance the skill sets of the labour to make it more efficient for delivering better results to the industry and economic growth.

In its second century it continues to serve with greater zeal the cause of trade, commerce and industry, especially in terms of global trade and investment and has in place 145 Memorandums of Understanding with leading chambers of commerce in over 50 countries. Its annual India Cal’ling programme brings investment and trade opportunities in its target countries and in India to the attention of business and political leaders. Target countries hitherto have included Singapore. UAE. the U.K., South Africa, Canada, Brussels (Belgium). Turkey, Vietnam, China.
With its commitnnent towards social upliftment at the forefront, IMC has selected ‘Growth with Governance’ as its theme for the year 2014-15. Various programmes and activities undertaken by the Chamber throughout the year will center around this theme.
NAIPThe National Academy of Indian Payroll launched in India in January 2010 in association with its strategic partner the Governing body of Payroll in the UK, The Queen’s Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), is considered a significant milestone in the acceleration of India as a provider of Professional Services and the Promotion of Positive Compliance.
