Corkjoint, 1984

the beginningCorkjoint was founded in 1984 in Sydney,

Australia by Jim Gately. At that time, it was

solely focused on producing cork expansion

jointing for the Australian market. After the

first year the branch in Melbourne was

established, followed by Brisbane and Perth

and Corkjoint continued to expand throughout

Australia to establish a comprehensive supply

network.

Since founded, the range of products has

expanded from Self Expanding Cork to other

products which were allied to jointing in

concrete and soon, Corkjoint had become the

major supplier to the in industry, becoming

30 years laterDue to high customer demand in the

Southeast Asia market, Corkjoint (Malaysia)

Sdn Bhd was formed in April 1996 to serve as

the main regional office. By establishing a

presence in Malaysia, it has allowed Corkjoint

to expand its operations into Southeast Asia,

the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions via a

direct supply presence or through a network of

strategic and supportive distributors. Corkjoint

(Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has played a leading role in

numerous high-profile developments, from

local projects such as the Kuala Lumpur

International Airport and Ulu Jelai Hydro Power

Dam to regional undertakings such as the

Lusail Expressway Tunnels in Doha to a

number of hydro dams in Vietnam, Laos and

Myanmar.

Corkjoint (Singapore) Pte Ltd was established

in November 2007 as a result of continuing

market demand in Singapore. Corkjoint

(Singapore) Pte Ltd has replicated the success

of Corkjoint (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd by supplying

many major projects and iconic buildings such

as Marina Bay Sands, Resorts World Sentosa,

Marina Coastal Expressway, Changi Airport

Terminals 2 & 3, Singapore Sports Hub, and

many MRT contracts.

THe Products

Expansion Joint FillerboardsExpansion Joint Fillerboards are used in expansion or isolation joints in concrete or masonry structures to separate or isolate them to allow for movements and to relieve stress.

Waterstop SystemsCorkjoint is a waterstop specialist and has a wide and varied number of waterstop systems available for use, for many different types of construction segments. Waterstops are very important and are usually required for most projects. There are many types of waterstop systems to be considered for use, and a very specific type may need to be used for joints where the ingress or egress of water needs to be controlled.

SealING Systems

In concrete structures and elements where joints are designed into them and where cracks are usually present, a great deal of consideration should be adopted for use or incorporation of a specialised Sealing System. A range of products such as M-Seal® VM-500 Voltage Isolation & Waterproof Membrane and Flexproof X®1 Waterproof Sealant & Sealing System, along with other systems, help to solve or prevent sealing problems in concrete structures.

Joint Sealants & Joint SealsIn structures and elements where joints have been placed in them, a Joint Sealant or Joint Seal is usually required to prevent or seal the joint against the entry of foreign matter or water into or out of the structure.

JOinting SystemsCorkjoint’s Jointing Systems have been designed to help fast-track the construction process and some are as basic as inducing cracks in concrete to form a control joint or as heavy duty as a structural connection for use in transferring high shear loads across movement joints.
