The Company

Established in 1945 and based in Ferrara, SITIE is an

International company that works in the field of electrical

and instrumentation installations, from the design up to

commissioning and start-up of the plants.

SITIE has operated for the most important EPCs of Oil&Gas,

Petrochemical, Chemical, Power Generation and civil sectors. SITIE

has built a strong reputation of dependability, managing every

aspect of the business in the most diverse environments.

The need to fulfill and manage the requests of many world players

in Oil&Gas industry, has forced SITIE to develop and carry out an

ambitious program of Quality Certification. The result of this effort

is the full System Quality Certification awarded in 2003 accordingly

to the following international Standards:

Certification of Environment Management System;

SITIE main asset is a central core of highly specialized personnel;

supported by temporary work force in order to perform on every

project acquired and reach the expected target of man/hours

amount.

people and several temporary workers,

Electrical and Instrumentation Installations

The installation of electrical and instrumentation systems is Sitie

core business and is more and more evolving towards a “turnkey”

supply, therefore including: engineering, project management,

procurement, start up and training services for customer’s

technicians.

A significant part of the resources of the department are dedicated

to long-term maintenance contracts in petrochemical plants, on-

shore and offshore oil&gas plants.

line of cable support system. Thanks to the 65+ years of

experience in the most severe environments, SITIE products

are preferred by some of the best EPCs worldwide; being

This department, which was born as part of the installation

department, has become independent by exploiting and trying to

optimise all the possible synergies amongst the company’s

various lines of business.

In particular, the development of the engineering business has led

the company to enter successfully the sectors of control systems

and analyzers.

The Project

SITIE Canada Ltd. entered the Canadian market in

partnership with an Edmonton based company to

create strong broad synergies, maximizing the

strengths and expertise of both companies to serve the

booming Alberta marketplace.

The first Canadian project was the Electrical and

Instrumentation Installations for the Primary Upgrader

Project (PUG) at CNRL’s Horizon Oil Sands Project in

Fort McKay. The job was carried out utilizing Canadian

and foreign skilled workforce.

The Project

SITIE Canada Ltd. provided experienced management

personnel from the corporate head-office in Italy to

support activities related to the development of the

project.

The skilled workers imported from overseas worked in

Canada under the Alberta Apprenticeship Industry and

Training Program via an approved Labour Market

Opinion for an initial 6 month period. Workers were

unionized and work under similar conditions as the

Canadian counterparts.

The Project

These qualified trades people were encouraged to

pursue the Red-Seal Inter-Provincial Certification in

order to extend their working status in Canada.

SITIE’s workforce of more than 200 trade people was

comprised of European skilled workers (For example

Portuguese, British and Scottish).

The demand for skilled labour in Alberta is expected to

increase for several years to come and SITIE Canada

intends to continue recruiting Temporary Foreign

Workers for to serve this market.
