CommonTypesofCarAccidentsinBronx
Serious car accident injuries occur every day. Motor vehicle accidents can cause an individual to sustain high medical costs and suffer permanent adverse effects, both personally and professionally, on their daily lives and income earning capabilities. A car accident can occur due to speeding, traffic gridlock, negligence, or recklessness and unsafe driving.
CommonTypesOfCarAccidents
Head-oncollisions
• Head-on collisions are often fatal. • They occur when the front ends of two vehicles hit each
other. • The typical cause of head-on collisions is when a vehicle
inadvertently comes in the path of another vehicle. • This often occurs on roads with no separate lanes marked for
opposite directions.
Single-vehiclecollisions
• This type of accident occurs when a single vehicle on the road has a collision without involving any other vehicle.
• The reason for this type of accident is speeding and careless driving.
• At times the reason could be an obstacle on the road, such as a pole, tree branches or debris. In some cases they may involve pedestrians and other innocent bystanders.
Read-endcollisions
• Rear-ending may happen when one vehicle is standing still and a moving vehicle hits it from behind.
• It can also be caused by sudden deceleration (slowing down or braking) by the first car, or when the following car accelerates more rapidly than the vehicle in front of it. An exception is when the impacted vehicle is in reverse gear.
• This is very common at traffic lights or near stop signs.
Pedestrianinvolvedaccidents
• A pedestrian is involved in an accident when they are trying to cross the road, and an oncoming vehicle hits them.
• Children and elderly people are common victims of this type of accident.
Collisionduetodistracteddriver
• Many accidents occur due to complete negligence of the driver.
• Cell phones and other communication device are often distracting. Passengers can be the cause of the distraction as well.
Collisionsduetoblindspots
• Blind spots happen when a driver is not able to see if another vehicle is coming.
• This can happen while backing out of a parking space or while changing lanes. This can also happen on hilly regions where you have blind turns with narrow roads.
Collisionsinvolvingmultiplevehicles
• Multiple vehicle collisions are sometimes referred to as "pile-ups" and often occur on busy roads such as highways and freeways.
• Such accidents occur when there is bad weather and it becomes difficult to control the vehicles.
Side-impactcollisions
• Side-impact collisions, also called a "T-bone" collision, or "broadsided," occur when the side of a vehicle is impacted by the front or rear of another vehicle or a fixed object.
Vehiclerollover
• A rollover occurs when a vehicle literally flips over onto its side or roof.
• Vehicle rollover accidents are dangerous and are often caused by a sharp turn at high speed.
• Cars with a high center of gravity, such as a sport utility vehicle (SUV), is prone to this type of accident.
Sideswipecollisions
• Sideswipe collisions are typically when the sides of two parallel cars touch and "swipe" each other.
• If both motor vehicles are traveling in the same direction and neither driver loses control, then the vehicles may suffer only cosmetic damage.
