MAY IN REVIEWHonor Flight South Florida
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo welcomed 65 World War II andKorean War American's veterans from Washington D.C. at Miami InternationalAirport.
The South Florida Honor Flight Hub, one of 127 Honor Flight Hubs in the nation, is anon-profit organization created solely to honor America's WWII and terminally illveterans to recognize their sacrifices. These heroes are flown to Washington D.C. tovisit and reflect at their respective memorials free of charge. Top priority is given toAmerica's most senior heroes and will naturally transitions to the Korean War,Vietnam War, and all other veterans who served on a chronological basis.

South Park, located at 6881 NW 179th Street, Miami, FL 33015.The event featuredfree food and drinks and fun activities for children. A number of agencies andorganizations were present to provide a variety of services.
Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program
Commissioner Bovo hosted his annual Mom & Pop Workshop where he invited localbusinesses to participate. The Mom & Pop program is part of the Commissioner'ssteadfast dedication to assisting the small businesses in District 13.
SEED Miami Tour
This month Commissioner Bovo toured the SEED School of Miami along with StateRepresentative Jose Felix Diaz and various community leaders. The SEED Schoolis a national organization that is implementing its first school in Miami-Dade County.The school provides a boarding school experience to the students. The program isaimed towards assisting students in the inner city to be able to experience more ofwhat the education system has to offer them.

12th Annual Florida Agriculture Literacy Day at Spanish LakeElementary
On May 26th Commissioner Bovo visited Spanish Lake Elementary to help celebratethe 12th Annual Florida Agriculture Literacy Day. In honor of the day he read to thestudents "Drive Through Florida: Livestock and Poultry", a new non-fiction children'sbook that highlights Florida's livestock and poultry industries. The book featured ananimated red truck named 'Ole Red' who takes students on a tour of beef, dairy,poultry, swine, equine, sheep and goat industries.
City of Hialeah Memorial Day Celebration
On Memorial day, Commissioner Bovo was invited by Hialeah Mayor CarlosHernandez, the City Council and the Hialeah Veteran's Affairs Board to Triangle Parkto commemorate those who have died while serving in the United States ArmedForces.

Golden Passport Event

Board of County Commissioners Awards
At the May 19th Board of County Commissioners meeting Commissioner Bovopresented the winners of the NEAT Streets Miami contest with a proclamation. TheCommissioner also presented the teachers from James H. Bright Elementary Schoolcertificates of congratulations on their completion of the Florida Fellows Program.Congratulations to all!
Farm Share Event
Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr. joined by Farm Share, the Florida Department ofChildren and Families, State Sen. Rene Garcia, State Reps. Frank Artiles, BryanAvila, Manny Diaz Jr. and Jose Oliva, and the Miami-Dade Police Departmenthosted a free food distribution on Saturday, May 16 at the Northwest District Police

PTA Breakfast
Commissioner Bovo hosted a breakfast for PTA members of schools within District13. He acknowledged and thanked them for their service to our community. He alsoaddressed their questions and concerns regarding Miami-Dade Countygovernment.
East- West Rail Line Tour
Commissioner Bovo along with Tri-Rail toured the East-West rail line that runs fromthe Miami Intermodal Center (Miami International Airport) along SR836 to SW 137Avenue. This rail line is located within a crucial corridor in Miami-Dade County.Commissioner is working with the various agencies to develop a plan to expand railservice for the future of transportation.

In solidarity with Teachers Appreciation week Commissioner Bovo presented 42certificates to the Principal, Teachers, and Teachers aides at Immaculate ConceptionCatholic School.

HIVE School was presented a certificate of appreciation to theirteachers for their civic participation in District 13. Spanish Lakes Elementary waspresented a certificate of congratulations for achieving A+ school status. MaterGardens was presented a certificate of congratulations for the Choir placing 1st atthe Miami-Dade County Youth Fair Competition. Congratulations to all the students,teachers, and parents!

Miami Lakes Relay for Life
On May 2nd at Miami Lakes Optimist Park, Commissioner Bovo attended Relay forlife of Miami Lakes. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the world'slargest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communitiesacross the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved oneslost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. 27 teams and 139participants were involved and raised around $24,000.00 to fight and end Cancer.
