Future Force Battle Command Initiative (F2BCI)
F2BCI is an innovative Battle Command Initiative which will holistically address Battle Command across
the domains of UA, UE and current force.
F2BCI will identify “Low Hanging Fruit” that can support the current force while addressing the needs
of the future force.
F2BCI was created by combining two mainline BC ATO’s namely NEBC and C2ORE.

Trends & Considerations
• C2D Corporate- Balanced portfolio of capability development - near term (current ops & POR) and far term (FCS)- Vacuum at UE level, but getting better- Increased emphasis on joint capabilities - with individual sister services and JFCOM- Systems engineering for C4ISR- Presenting data as soldier-friendly knowledge for BC and Pos/Nav (e.g. heading, map features, etc.)- Increased emphasis on leverage of capabilities and resources from other organizations
• Power - batteries, generators, and ECU's to hybrid power systems. • Platform Integration and Prototyping
- Pursuing customers from other services- Improved efficiency through ISO 9000 compliancy and 6–sigma concepts
• Battle Command - FBCB2 and JTCW are the two most important near/mid-term C2 systems- Net- Centricity. Apply to evolution of existing capabilities and development of new capabilities- Battle Command Migration Plan
• Pos/Nav- Software Defined Rcvrs for positioning using Signals of Opportunity (FM Radio, TV Stations, VLF,…)- Urban/Subsurface Navigation for dismounted soldier within size, weight, and power requirements.- Integration of navigation sensors- Network assisted GPS- Micro electro-mechanical inertial measurement unit- Enhanced dead reckoning devices- Mission configurable system through software configurable radio, miniature navigation sensors and more powerful
processors.
