HOW TO GET TO EXPO MILAN

The Expo site is located between Rho & Pero, 15 kilometres north-west of Milan.

IF YOU FLY TO MILAN

Milan is served by three airports: Malpensa, Linate and Orio al Serio.

A) From Malpensa airport to EXPO

1. By Bus: From Malpensa a shuttle bus runs every 15-20 minutes to Milan Central station (Stazione Centrale)

and stops at RHO FIERA MILANO as first stop (duration of the journey: about 25 min). This stop is the

closest stop to EXPO Milano. The bus ticket costs €10 (check website

http://www.malpensashuttle.it/web2011/e-azienda.php).

2. By Train: Malpensa Express train leaves from Malpensa Terminal 1 every 30 minutes (timetable at

http://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/) to get to Milan Cadorna station (city centre). From Cadorna station

take the Red Metro line to Rho Fiera Milano. The cost for the train ticket is €12 and €5 for the metro ticket

(roundtrip).

3. By Taxi: Costs approximately €65 to Expo directly or €80 – €100 to the city centre.

B) From Linate airport to EXPO:

1. By Bus: Bus No. 73 to Piazza San Babila (city centre) from where you can take the Red Metro Line to Rho

Fiera Milano (not to be confused with Fieramilanocity). The bus ticket costs €1.50 and the Metro to Rho

Fiera is €5 (roundtrip).

2. By Taxi: €30 - €35 to the city centre or approximately €55 to Expo

C) From Bergamo Orio al Serio airport (Ryanair)

1. By Bus: From Bergamo Orio al Serio there is a bus to RHO FIERA EXPO departing at 08.30, 10.15 and

11.00. Departures from Rho Fiera are at 15.15, 16.00 and 18.00. The journey lasts about 45 minutes and

the tickets cost €12 (http://www.autostradale.it/pdf/festivitaaereoporti/Rho%20Fiera%20-

%20Orio%20APT.pdf).

There is also a frequent shuttle bus to Milan Central station (Stazione Centrale): from there, take the

Green Metro Line and change in Cadorna to take the Red Metro Line to Rho Fiera Milano. The bus ticket

costs €5 and €5 for the metro (roundtrip).

2. By Taxi: €120 - €140 to the city centre or approximately €95 to Expo

Please note that no train service is available from Linate and Orio al Serio airports.

IF YOU TRAVEL BY METRO

The easiest way to get to EXPO MILANO is via the Red Metro Line to Rho Fiera Milano.

To reach the Expo site by metro, purchase an ‘extra-urbano’ ticket, and take the Red Metro Line (linea 1) to Rho

Fiera Milano metro station. Duomo and Cadorna are both on Line 1, where you can connect to the city’s other

underground lines.

Travel time to the Expo site is expected to be about 25 minutes from Piazza Duomo, 20 minutes from Stazione

Cadorna, 35 minutes from Stazione Centrale, and 30 minutes from Stazione Garibaldi. From Milan Central

Station (Stazione Centrale) you have to take the Green Metro line and change in Cadorna Station to take the

Red Metro Line to Rho Fiera Milano (check website http://www.atm.it/en/Pages/default.aspx)

After exiting the Rho Fiera Milano underground station, which is close to the FIORENZA West Entrance, visitors

take the steps to the Security Plaza. Once through the security checks, visitors cross the Expo-Fiera pedestrian

bridge to reach the Expo site. There are ticket booths and visitor services in the access area of the Rho Fiera

Milano metro station.

IF YOU TRAVEL BY TRAIN

Regional, suburban and high speed trains also serve Rho Fiera Milano from Milano Central Station or Milano

Porta Garibaldi. Please see timetable here: www.trenitalia.com

1. From Milan Central Station (Stazione Centrale), the easiest way to get to EXPO MILANO is via the Red

Metro Line to Rho Fiera Milano (check website http://www.atm.it/en/Pages/default.aspx).

2. From Cadorna railway station (close to piazza Duomo, downtown): take the Red Metro Line to Rho Fiera

Milano (check website http://www.atm.it/en/Pages/default.aspx)

From Milan, the suburban services S5 and S6 as well as S14 (departing from Rogoredo) of the passante service,

stop at Rho Fiera Milano train station, while passengers from Monza, Seregno, and Como can take line S11.

Regional train services from Arona, Domodossola, Varese, and Turin will also stop at Rho Fiera Milano train

Train and metro tickets to get to Expo from Milan

Rho Fiera station can be reached using a single ticket that is valid on both the ATM (Milan public transport) and

Trenord (railway) networks. Tickets are on sale at ticket machines in underground stations or from ATM Points,

as well as from Authorised Expo Milano 2015 Ticket Resellers. (The cost of a roundtrip is 5 euros and a daily

ticket costs 8 euros). With 'Io viaggio ovunque in Lombardia’ (a daily ticket costs 16 euros) it is possible to reach

Rho Fiera from any other destination in Lombardy, using any means of public transport.

GETTING TO EXPO MILAN FROM YOUR HOTEL

1. Four Points Sheraton Milan city centre – Rho Fiera EXPO: The easiest way to reach the Expo from the

hotel is to take the Green Metro line (linea 2) at Gioia station (5 minutes walking distance from the hotel) for

four stops and then change at Cadorna station to the Red Metro Line (linea 1) to Rho Fiera station (EXPO stop).

2. NH FIERA – Rho Fiera EXPO: The hotel operates a free shuttle service mornings and evenings to/from

Expo. The shuttle minibus is parked outside the hotel, check with reception for departure times. There is also an

official Expo shuttle (Blue buses) starting from a stop 100m from the hotel. Both will drop you off at the Fiorenza

West Entrance.

3. Radisson Blu – Rho Fiera EXPO: The easiest and fastest way to reach the Expo from Raddison Blu Hotel

is to walk to Milano Villapizzone railway station (8 minutes walking) and take the suburban train (Lines S5,

S6, S11) for two stops (8 minutes by train) and get off at Rho Fiera Expo Milano 2015 station.

HOW TO GET TO THE EU PAVILION

- If you arrive by metro: you will access the FIORENZA West Entrance, close to metro station Rho Fiera.

Follow direction signs indicating “EXPO”. Once you have passed through the security check and walked

through a covered pedestrian bridge you will reach the EXPO site.

- If you arrive by train: you will arrive at the TRIULZA West Entrance Once you have passed through the

security check you will reach the EXPO site.

If you want to make your own way there - From there the walking distance is about 15 minutes, continue

straight onto the Cardo towards the Tree of Life until you reach on your right the EU Pavilion. (see blue

arrow on the map)

Please note that EXPO offers its visitors a shuttle bus (People Mover) service. The shuttle bus makes 10 stops around

the whole EXPO perimeter. The closest stop to the EU pavilion is STOP 5. The bus passes every 5 to 7 minutes and

each shuttle bus has a max capacity of 28 people.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• At the EXPO gate: airport security rules are applied. Laptops and tablets must be shown, no fluids allowed,

only hand-luggage-size bags. Guests are requested to authorise a security inspection if required by EXPO;

• Passport or ID Card required;

• Queuing is inevitable – please be there at 9.30 when queuing time is shorter in order to enter at 10.00 (when

gate opens) and then reach the EU pavilion in time for the first sessions;

• Pets are not allowed with the exception of guide dogs.

• Special tip: we advise you to wear comfortable shoes – ladies beware of high heels!
