Colour Schemes

Tints, Shades, and Tones

• A colour made lighter by adding white is a tint• If black is added, the darker version is called a

shade• When gray is added, the result is a different

tone.

Tonal Colour Schemes

• The use of just one colour but varying tones or use more than one colour but all with the same depth of tone.

Harmonious Colour Schemes

• Picking colours next to each other or near each other on the wheel

• Generally give a look that's easy on the eye

Complementary Colour Schemes

• Using colours that lie opposite each other on the colour wheel

• Tend to inject life make more of an impact • Might not be so easy on the eye

Typical Music Magazine Colour Schemes •Tonal colours black and white with contrasting red used to make areas stand out

Planned Colour Scheme •I want the colours to be very typical of a magazine and so will use different shades of black with contrasting red and tints of blue

These are the colour codes for the colours I have chosen to use. I will mainly be using the red, white and black however the blue will be used sparingly for the images
