PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Parents and Students,
Welcome back from the holiday break. I hope everyone enjoyed time with your families.
The second semester will bring many opportunities to be involved at Coleman, so stay up to date through the Coleman Chronicle, the Coleman Webpage, and with Edsby. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!
I always encourage parents to spend time with their children and share in their daily experiences. Please take a moment to read the following article (link below) on how eating dinner with your kids can transform your parent-child relationship and also create stronger connections away from the table.

will be on Sunday, January 8th from 3-4pm at Strawberry Crest High School.
Please join us on Tuesday, January 31st at 6:30 PM in the Media Center for the PTSA General Membership Meeting. In addition to an update from Coleman Administration, we will
vote on some required PTSA business (budget, bylaws and nominating committee for next year).
Following the business meeting, our School Pyschologist, Ms. Pickering and Guidance Counselor Ms. Morter will give a presentation on Coping with Anxiety. Many of our students feel anxious (even if they don't always share this with us),
especially during testing times, so they will share management strategies and other support that is available.

NEED A PLACE FOR YOUR OLD EXCERCISE EQUIPMENT?
The PTSA is looking to take off your hands any old exercise equipment that you may have! They are looking for elliptical machines, stair steppers, rowing machines, stationary bikes, weight machines, and treadmills. Your donation will go to replace the very old and outdated equipment that is currently being used by the students and faculty at Coleman. What a great way to start the new year, with some new to them exercise equipment!
Please contact Kim Kizirian if you can help!

The following Mini Grants were approved by the PTSA Board this
month:
* $187.10 was approved for the purchase of 10 copies of the book "Teaching Like a Pirate". The books will be used by teachers for a book study group that offers participants creative and practical teaching tools and strategies for enhancing student engagement.* $1,721.25 was approved for the renewal of the BrainPop subscription. BrainPop, an online learning resource, is used by many teachers in all subject areas to introduce a new topic, reteach a difficult concept, or just engage students in intellectual discussion. Students will be able to access BrainPop from home.
Once again these are your PTSA dollars at work! Thank you to all
of our business and family sponsors who help make these possible.
If you have any questions, please contact Kim Kizirian.
