Please give your attention to Page 6 where our Corporate Donors are identified. Visit their establishments often and give them a big “thanks” for their support of CdAAA and the Coeur d’Alene Airport.

Monthly meetings of Cd’AAA occur on the third

Tuesday of each month, beginning at 5:30PM, at

the Civil Air Patrol Bldg at 2410 W. Miles, Hayden

unless otherwise announced.

The Cd'AAA recommends that hangar owners and renters be pro -active about preventing trouble at the airport and participating in airport watch activities.

We encourage all hanger owners and renters to

place the above Emergency Contact sign in a

window visible from the street. This will provide a

quick way to notify the hanger owner or renter if

anything unusual is noted by airport personnel or

other hanger owners.

Signs can be obtained from Murdo Cameron,

640-1620.

Local Aviation Club Sponsors A-10 Fly-in/Static Display KCOE on September 9, 2017

TWO Military Elite A-10s, aka Warthogs, make an appearance at

Coeur d’Alene Airport, Hayden Spokesman, Murdo Cameron, who has worked with the Pentagon to arrange this fly-in, says that planned activities include the Warthogs on static display, a hamburger/hot dog lunch ($7.00) a beer garden, dance groups and the local boat/car clubs are invited to come out and show their stuff. This could be a great way to finish off the summer.

Report: House working on FAA funding

extension

According to an interview in the Washington-based publication

CQ, Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo., chairman of the Transportation

and Infrastructure Highways and Transit Subcommittee, said

the House will need an extension of the Federal Aviation

Administration's funding instead of the controversial 21st

Century AIRR Act (H.R. 2997), a bill that would remove air

traffic control from FAA jurisdiction. Without legislative action,

the FAA will run out of spending authority Sept. 30.

Solar Eclipse Adventures:

After many reviews and taking input from others we

departed Felts at gross takeoff weight. Beautiful flight into

central Idaho, a little bit of smoke. We flew to McCall, to

Bruce Meadows, then into Stanley. We arrived Sat. AM

early for fear of crowds, but only 3 planes were tied down.

We were lucky to get a motel room for the first night, slept

under the wing in tents the second night. My daughter

drove up from Ogden with a boyfriend and her dog, we all

watched from under the wing of 43U. As the moon then

slowly eclipsed the sun. At totality we removed our glasses,

noticed the dog was sound asleep and the outer ring of the

sun brilliantly shimmered around the moon. Incredible.

We waited to depart until Tuesday morning as the majority

of the other 30 planes left after the eclipse. We planned for

the right amount of fuel for departure, off loaded extra food and things to my daughter. We aimed for an 8am departure

but had frost on the wings; we moved the plane into the

sun, wiped off the frost and departed for Felts.

Anne A. (Corporate Donor) and friend, Melinda,

at Stanley, ID to watch eclipse…

Glad we flew; traffic was miserable.

Alert--- Don’t be a Statistic The Spokane FSDO has seen its fair share of pilot deviations this year: 27 so far. These have varied from altitude deviations, ATC Compliance and Instructions, Runway Incursions, to a record of number of airman penetrating the Yakima

Restricted Airspace while active. (Arrgghh)
