The Program:In accordance with Session Law 2011-145 Appropriations Act of 2011, Onslow County Schools and Coastal Carolina Community College established the Career and College Promise Program (CCPP). CCPP provides opportunities for eligible high school juniors and seniors to take college courses to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and Associate degrees that may lead to college transfer and/or careers.

The Cost:Approved students pay no tuition. Students are required to purchase textbooks.

The Pathways:College Transfer Pathway: Courses in this pathway provide an opportunity for a student to complete up to 30 semester hours of transferrable courses toward an Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree.College Transfer Pathway Criteria:

a) Be a high school junior or senior.b) Have a weighted GPA of 3.0 in high school courses.c) Demonstrate college readiness on an approved assessment in English, reading and mathematics.d) To remain eligible for continued enrollment, a student must complete a new application for each semester

documenting continued progress toward high school graduation and maintain a 2.0 GPA on college coursework after completing two courses.

Steps for Admission and Enrollment1. Obtain a copy of the CCPP Program Booklet and Application

2. Complete key components of the application:a. Complete the Student Information and Medical Information Sectionb. Select a Career and College Pathwayc. Complete the College Readiness Verification Section

i. Write in current weighted high school grade point averageii. Attach a copy of your current high school transcriptiii. Write in qualifying assessment scores and attach a copy. (EX. SAT, ACT, PSAT, Pre-ACT)

d. Select courses you wish to take and include your release time.e. Select the semester

3. Meet with your high school guidance counselor to review your plan and get signatures

4. Take your completed application to Coastal Admissions Office (Student Services)

5. Take the Coastal Placement Test (NC DAP) if necessarya. Get a testing schedule and study guides from Coastal’s Admission Officeb. For Online practice, go to [email protected]. Review test scores with a Coastal Academic Counselor/Advisor

6. Go to Coastal to enroll in classes

7. Get a Coastal photo ID card, parking placard, and purchase textbooks

8. Mark your calendar for the first day of class

IMPORTANT! The Career & College Application must be submitted with a copy of a current high school transcript and copies of any qualifying assessments. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Effective the Summer 2017 semester, Coastal Carolina will no longer offer the option for Provisional enrollment. Those students currently admitted under this criteria will be grandfathered in.

Admissions Policy:Attendance at Coastal Carolina Community College (CCCC) requires the student to abide by all rules and regulations as set forth by the high school and the College. As a general rule, high school students are limited to two college courses (7 credit hours) per semester. Career and College Promise Program high school students must be at least 16 years of age, must be attending high school at least one-half day, must be making appropriate progress toward graduation, and cannot displace adult college students. The requested information on this application is used for institutional and statistical purposes and is held in strict confidence. This application is for the purpose of Career and College Promise Program and not for admission to Coastal Carolina Community College. Enrollment Opportunities for Early High School Graduates

Coastal Carolina Community College (CCCC) will offer a modified 2018 Spring Semester with an opportunity to complete up to twelve (12) semester hours of college credits. College credits may be applied to a degree at Coastal or transferred to a private/public four year university. Early high school graduates will have the option of selecting from 12 week or 8 week classes that begin after their January 2018 graduation completion date.

Steps to Complete Admission and Enrollment1. Complete and submit a CCCC application (online application at www.coastalcarolina.edu)

2. Complete the FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov)

3. Demonstrate college readiness on an approved assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics.(Note: Limited enrollment programs may have additional requirements and/or assessment standards.)

4. Take the CCCC NC DAP placement test if necessary. The testing schedule and study guides may be found on the Coastal website under “Quick Links.” Additionally, a free study app can be found at: www.accuplacerpractice.collegeboard.org.

5. Meet with an Academic Counselor/Advisor to receive and review assessment scores, be officially admitted, and select courses. Take an official copy of your high school transcript.

6. If using Financial Aid and/or Veterans Benefits, meet with a Financial Aid Advisor and/or Veterans Program Office staff to determine qualifications for funding by Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

7. Register for classes by Wednesday, December 13, 2017.

8. Get a Coastal ID card, parking placard, purchase textbooks, and finalize payment of tuition.

9. Secure validation of high school graduation.

• The high school principal or designee should send an email or written validation of graduation along with an unofficial copy of the high school transcript to CCCC by January 26, 2018 to Danielle Batterton at [email protected]

• An official copy of the final high school transcript with the graduation date shown must be sent to CCCC no later than June 29, 2018.

10. Be ready for the first day of classes.

*Students that enroll at Coastal as Early High School graduates are not eligible to enroll as a Career and College Promise Program (CCPP) student.
