VECTOR IDENTIFICATIONOnce the Design was realized the Vector

Lines had to simplied to identify the shapes and

layers. Goin g beyond a sandblasted sign withlimited layers, we needed this process to carve atleast ten di ff erent levels with arching as well asbevels.

CREATING AN ENROUTE CUTTING FILE After simplifying the vector lines a .rou le

was developed. This being the most complex

layered les we were about to produce, we enlistedthe guidance of of MultiCam Dan, a leading expert with the software. He graciously guided theles into the production format.

    Production Step 2

CNC ROUTINGUsing the 3000 series Router from MultiCam

Canada and 18lb HDU 2 Precision Board eachsign was cut twice with a 3/16 bit, It was done in 3passes milling away and getting sharper until Firstpass was 18min. the second 24min. and nally 42min. for the last pass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKTyEovUks4

    FINISHED BLANKS After milling, we

inspected the blanks anmade any la st minutechanges with some quickhand shaping. With 2coats of primmer thefaces were ready forassembly. Time to meetthe 1 Core

    Production Step 1

BONDINGWith the front and back maximum thickness

at 2 and an insert of a 1 core the Blade Sign now laminated w ith Gorilla glue is a full 5 thick. You

cant use enough clamps on this stage, the edgesbeing the most crucial. We also counter sunk a few screws ( hand tightened ) then ll with epoxy
