Seniors Michael Moran and Caroline Hobson are National Merit Semifinalists! Nationwide, less than 1% of all high school seniors reach this status. Michael and Caroline were chosen by their test scores on the PSAT/NMSQT taken in 2015 during their junior year. Both Michael and Caroline will now be competing to become finalists and potential scholarship winners based on their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and employment, as well as, any honors and awards received.

CMHS students Jesse Maun; Stuart Lawrence; Mackenzie, Sadie and Cooper Callahan; Cogan and Blythe Brooks, along with many others, joined together in Poland for World Youth Day. All students felt it was an incredible experience.

Senior Mac Sacco and his family attended the Canonization of Mother Theresa on September 4th, 2016 in Rome.

CMHS seniors, Alex Turner and Brooke Picchi, presented and helped celebrate the completion of St. Martha’s Zazzarino Center. It was a wonderful night!

Evan Berman, senior, competed in the North American Contract Bridge tournament. Berman and his three teammates visited Washington, D.C. for the tournament July 28-30 and placed second against 250 players from all over the world. It was the sixth consecutive tournament in which Berman competed.

Olivia Liang, senior, participated in a rare internship opportunity at the Observer. For six months she learned to design online articles, give interviews, and eventually wrote the weekly A & E Calendar. Also, she wrote an original piece that was published. Olivia stated “Working at the Observer was one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve never met

such incredible people, and I am beyond eager to study English, Writing, Communication, and so much more in college!”

Dear Friends,

‘Try to remember the first days of spring when life was young and oh so mellow’ – The Fantasticks

Do you remember those days when the biggest worry you had in life was your next test and your biggest concern

was whether or not you were going to get a date for Prom? When a busy weekend consisted of an hour or two of

studying and several hours on the beach? We were fun people back then and also very naïve. Luckily, we were

fortunate to have around us teachers, coaches, parents, tutors, friends, and classmates who taught us what we

needed to know, even if we were unaware of the education occurring.

One of the joys in life is reliving memories, some great and some not-so-great, that helped form us into the people

we are today. Sharing these moments and the sense of gratitude that whelms up in us remains a treasure all by

itself. What is not always realized, is that every day at Cardinal Mooney High School, new memories are being

made and great experiences are still occurring. We are blessed to watch our boys and girls grow to become young

men and women who fulfill their promise. Yes, tests are taken, exams are prepared for, concerts and plays are

performed, just like when we were young, and it occurs because of the sacrifices and generosity of people like you.

Merry Christmas,

Tim Gallic

There are times when unavoidable financial hardships fall on hardworking families. Often these situations can be temporary, but it is school tuition that may be one of the first expenses to be cut from the family budget. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to those individuals who sponsor students through the Adopt-A-Student program. As a result of their generosity, Cardinal Mooney students who are recipients of scholarship awards excel and develop into promising future leaders.
