    About The Voyageurs:

Taking their name from the 19th centu-

ry traders who braved the wild Missis-

sippi River to bring goods to New Orle-

ans, the Voyageurs aspire to capture the

feel of America past and present, from

the rocky shores of St. Louis to the

    muddy Delta.

    Bio:

In 2010, Marshall Anderson and Janis

Esch parted ways musically and geo-

graphically after a two-year stint front-

ing the Upstate New York alt-country

group Visions of Cody. Esch completed

    her second

    EP, "Back to

    the Badlands,"

    while working

    as half of the

    Southern Cal-

    ifornia duothe Brushfires.

    Thereafter,

    she moved to

post-Katrina New Orleans in search of

    inspiration. Anderson, meanwhile,

performed briefly in the New York Fin-

    ger Lakes region with singer-songwriter

Emily Mulkerne and later moved to

    Southern Illinois to

    sharpen his lead

    guitar chops with

    Carbondale folk-

    rockers the Bone Dry

    River Band.

    Description:

    As the Americana/

    alt-country duo the

    Voyageurs, former collaborators Janis

    Esch and Marshall Anderson blend

flavors of nu-folk, maritime and blues

to create a distinctive, arresting sonic

    texture.

    About the Mudsills:

    The dictionary entry formudsill

is: Member of a structure's foun-dation, usually placed in or on the

ground; A particularly low or dirty

    place/state; a low-life, thoroughly

    disreputable person.

One starts to get a feel for the type of

    low-down, gutbucket music that these

    guys create-- a sound unflinchingly

solid at its base and yet rough around

the edges, more about feeling than

finesse. We play heavy, loud, trance-

    inducing blues, vocalist/guitarist Alex

Kirt said in a recent chat with Night-

life. The music is raw and simple with

a swampy beat and a gritty sound.

About Hobo Knife, in their own words:

    We're stuck in a Devil's deal. That's

why our songs have a sense of impend-

ing doom about them, & often a stub-

    born resistance to it.

    Bio:

    Fronted by vocalist songwriters Morti-

mer Bustos & Hugh DeNeal, Hobo

Knife plays simple songs about murder

and betrayal. We play mostly originals,

but we do a few covers by folks we like,

such as Nick Cave, Tom Waits, & Dar-

    rell Scott.

    Description:

    Feeling trapped by the

    alienating conditions

    of existence? Caught
