E. Committee Reports:

1. Curriculum Committee Report: Sondra said that the committee is waiting for more recommendations for pur-chases. So far only the ARBA standard of Perfection has been recommended. Materials can be checked out at the council meetings and returned at the next council meeting in that location. 2. Quiz Bowl & Judging Jamboree was cancelled due to weather safety issues. 3. Presentation Day: Jessica & Sondra: Presentations entry forms were due by 3/26. Youth should arrive at 9:30 to

check-in. A potluck will be held. 4. Art Extravaganza: Jenni & Maleah: Will be held on 4/28 at the dining hall in Hayfork. Karen Boltz, a water color

artist will be there. 5. 4-H Summer Camp: The summer camp will be held the end of June. Contact Dwight for more information. 6. Shooting Sports – The NRA support has been difficult to coordinate. The postal shoot has a June 22nd due date. 7. Calendar – It has been difficult getting group pictures for the calendar. Sondra took some pictures and for events

where there is not a good group shot, Jenni may collage some photos together. Jenni is still working getting pric-ing and thinking of doing much of the work herself to cut costs. She may go with one photo and tear off calendar pages.

8. Fair Board meeting report – They are still looking for volunteers for pretty much everything from grounds help to entertainment for fair. A lot of topics had to be postponed for Jerry’s return.

VI. Old Business: Survey report from the clubs on the county events showed that clubs are reluctant to lose any events.

VII. New Business: A. Farm Bureau scholarship – Audra asked if we should offer to return the funds if no one applies for the scholarship. The dates conflict with fair so it is likely that no youth will apply. Sondra made a motion and Shannon seconded the motion that we ask the Farm Bu-reau if they would like the funds returned. Motion passed unanimously. B. Dates were set for Officer’s Training Day (Sep 15, 2012), and Record Book Judging (Oct 13, 2012). Some discussion was held about merging Achievement Day and Presentation Day. Then Favorite Foods day would move to April 2013. The Art Extravaganza would be held with Textile Day/Crafts/Skating Day. Quiz Bowl would be paired with Avian Judging Day. Some clubs were not represented at this meet-ing so final decisions have been postponed on host clubs for some events.

C. Expansion & Review Committee meeting will be held June 11, 2012 at TCOE – 5 pm before the June 4-H Council meeting. Members: Ronie – Chair, Kathy, Audra, Sondra, Jessica, Nick. Anyone new interested in being on the committee? D. Council meeting locations was on the agenda but the consensus was that the current alternating locations work E. Quiz Bowl activities at club meetings – the consensus was that the kids really enjoy the county-wide competition so there was discussion of holding Quiz Bowl with Avian Judging day later this year.

F. Clubs need to make arrangements to pick up and return supplies to the office for county events they host.

G. The group discussed record book judging at club level. Some clubs already do this but the kids like the county level recognition too. VIII. Announcements: Livestock Agreements are due by May 1, 2012.

IX. Leader Concerns: OHVs and vehicles at fair in the barn and washing area. Camping situations among 4-H families and venders.

Camp line definitions and fewer spaces available because of permanent spaces no longer available during fair time. Tobacco (chew) use by youth in the big barn area and arena bleachers.

X. Next Council Meeting Date and Place: June 11, 2012 - 6pm @ TCOE, Weaverville

Adjourn: meeting was adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
