    Concentration: Project Management

My name is Clinton Honn and I am a young, versitile, creative person who is fervent about design. Coming from a small mid-west town, my design perspective is unique and unlike any others. Following my passion, I am developing a career in the field of Industrial Design and become a better overall design professional. Outside of design, I enjoy playing guitar, sports, lighting, furniture and getting involved in organizations with people whom have the same passions. I graduated from Iowa State University, May 2014, and looking for opportunities to grow and learn as a designer. I would like to live in a place where I can experience other cultures, and settle into a community.

  • CHALLENGE

“How to create a fashionable emergancy alert system that detects

when users fall in the home”

Falls are the leading cause of death due to an injury among the elderly

54% of falls occur in the home.

87% of all fractures in the elderly are due to falls.

Getting immediate help after an immobilizing fall improves the chance of survival by 80% and increases the likelihood of a return to independent living.

  • CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

  • SYSTEM DEVELOPMENTUsing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags the watches will have the ability to track the users movement sending constant feedback to the sensors throughout the rooms of the home providing a sense of security for the user.

  • FINAL DESIGN

  • CONCEPT CALLOUT1. Magnified Tempered Glass to make the numbers easier to read.

    2. Polycarbonate Plastic provides a light weight face that still protects the internal components.

    3. Watch face clip for user customization with ease and security.

    4. Push locking and release mechanism makes it easier for the elderly to wind themselves.

    5. Fail safe button gives the person the ability to call for help without waiting for the 10 second unconscious alarm to be activated.

    6. Silicone Gel attachment allows the straps to expand and fit over various hand sizes without the use of a clasp mechanism.
