evaluation system and tentative schedule of the same.

1.INTRODUCTION

The holistic development of the child involves both the scholastic and the co-scholastic areas of pupil’s growth. Thus, we try to inculcate the habits of regular study,

In order to meet our target of preparing young Rukminians to face the future challenges with confidence, the school believes in preparing and evaluating the students

Internal Assessment

The English curriculum aims at the harmonious development of the four language skills, i.e. reading, writing, listening and

speaking. It is not possible to test all of them through a formal time – bound examination. It is, therefore, essential to measure the

level of attainment in these skills through internal assessment, in addition to the formal examination.

The overall pattern of the internal assessment is as follows: -

Internal Assessment : Conversational Skills + Assignment + Expression File+ Book Reading

1. Conversational Skills

Language testing has for its goal not just communication but communicative competence, which

should enable a child to understand and converse in an effective manner. It will be evaluated for 5

marks in each term, based on student’s participation in language activities.

I Term : Dictogloss

II Term : Spin a Yarn

2. Assignment

(Reading and Writing)

It is highly appreciable that the students are able to read with correct pronunciation, stress and

diction and use their analytical skills to comprehend and express themselves in a coherent manner.

Students will be evaluated for 5 marks in each term. CW and HW assigned by the teacher would

be evaluated for its originality, presentation and regularity in submission of the same.

3. Expression File

(Reading and Writing)

It is essential for a student to utilize the various resources (eg. Library, Newspaper, etc.) available

to enhance reading and writing skills. Expression File will be evaluated for 5 marks in each term.

4. Book Reading

‘Reading widens our horizons’. Therefore, to inculcate reading skills, the learners will be issued a

library book in each term. The task assigned on the reading will be evaluated for 5 marks in each

term.
