Cynthia is a contemporary artist and teacher focusing on beadwork as her medium. She specializes in peyote stitch and off-loom weaving techniques with an emphasis on developing sculptural unsupported shapes in beadwork. Her work has been exhibited in national and international shows and has appeared in many books focused on contemporary beadwork. Her choice of beads as my medium was primarily influenced by her love of color. The process of working with beads and thread is meditative and calming, which allows time for reflection. Cynthia’s relationship with beads will always be one of learning, experiencing and sharing.

The Jacobean Floral Bracelet evokes the floral style of early Jacobean embroidery, but with a 3-D contemporary take on traditional techniques. Fanciful flowers made of several peyote stitch variations adorn a coiled tube of metal mesh as the mesh works its way to the closure. The closure encases the ends of the rolled mesh in a beautiful embellished snap connection.
