Birthday Babies
Happy Birthday!!
Neha Rajendran -- May 1
From the Class Teacher’s Desk
The academic year has come to an end and before I can blink by eyes, 18 beautiful
Sunflowers would soon turn into Super Gems called Maragadams or Vairams.
What started as a seed has now fully blossomed into a full fledged garden of
blooming flowers.
Throughout the year I always considered myself lucky to have a group of children
of this caliber and parents who were always there to help me in all aspects. I wish I
could be a part of this beautiful group next year too.
My grand father who was a teacher used to always tell me “Remember! The
purpose of education is not to fill the minds of the little ones with facts, but to teach
them to think.
I think I have done a little bit of my part here but I still have a long way to go. So
with a heavy heart I bid Bye to you DEAR ONES for I know what it is to be a
CLASS TEACHER of such WONDERFUL KIDS.
To end my note – Remember the little precious values that we learnt in class like-
value of time, discipline in whatever we do, presentation of work etc……. these
may not get you high academic scores but definitely make your LIFE Worth a
million times.

Book Review Genre: Fiction By Madhumitha Sriram
Title: Matilda
Author: Roald Dahl
Main Character: Matilda
Other Characters: Michael, Mr. & Mrs. Wormwood, Mrs. Phelps, Ms.Honey,
Ms.Trunchbull, Amanda, Hortensia, Lavender, Fred, Nigel, Bruce Boggtrotter,
Prudence, Eric Ink, Wilfred and different names of the author have been included
in this book.
My Favorite Part:
“The Third Miracle” is my favorite part of this story as it is incredible to witness a
child of 5 years performing a great miracle. In this chapter, Matilda realizes that it
is up to her to get rid of Trunchbull once and for all, so her teacher Ms.Money will
not be poor again. Matilda uses her power to make a piece of chalk to write the
following on the blackboard:
“Agatha, this is Magnus and you’d better believe it! Agatha, give my Jenny
back to her house. Give my Jenny her wages and then get out of here. If you
don’t, I will come and get you, just like you got me. I am watching you
Agatha!”
This really frightened the Trunchbull and she fled for her life! Where she went, no
one knows, but Matilda saved the day!
The Summary:
Matilda is a genius, 5 year old child. Her parents are not so informed and she is
having a great time driving them crazy with her pranks. At school, she amazes her
teacher with her ability to perform tasks that are impossible for anyone! It really
takes a superhuman genius to get rid of the headmistress that hates kids – The
Trunchbull!
How did Matilda do it? Read the book to find it!
My Ratings: ****
I liked the way the author Roald Dahl carries forth the story, giving a brief
introduction about the story and characters. Then he moves on to the plot and
concludes without much elaboration, so as to not to make the reader bored of the
story.
The only thing I felt could have been better is that the author could have ended the
story with a complete conclusion or with suspense. The ending:
“….. the car disappearing forever into the distance.” – gives rise to questions like
what happened to Matilda and her family? Did they ever see each other again?

Being a Prefect…… By Neha Rajendran
Being a prefect this year wasn’t an easy job. We had a lot of tasks
to be fulfilled. I learnt to develop my leadership skills while performing the duties given to me.
The day the auditions for the prefects were held, I had to give a small speech to gain everybody’s confidence. One of the prefectorial
duties was to guide the junior classes to their respective assemblies on Fridays and see that everyone follows the assembly rules. I was in charge of class IV A. We had to wear our prefect
badge everyday to school.
We had to maintain discipline at all times within the campus and be a role model to others. We were monitored by our head boy, head girl and our prefect coordinators.
One of our main duties was organizing the Christmas carnival .We were split into groups for setting up various stalls for the event. It
turned out to be a grand success and one of the most memorable days of this year. And so as a token of appreciation we were taken
to the wild tribe branch, which was fun. Coming to the end of the year, we all have to return our posts and
our badges, so a new set of students can be prefects next year. It was great to be a part of the student council this year. I wish the future prefects all the best. It was an honor to be a prefect and was
a memorable experience!

My Arangetram…… By Madhumitha Sriram
An Arangetram is a beautiful occasion that takes place only once in
a lifetime. It’s the first step towards becoming a dancer. It’s where the dancer shows the basics they have learnt in dance until that point, showing the expressions and emotions involved in the story
of the Padams.
On the day of my Arangetram, I was very glad that the day I’d been working hard all along, had finally arrived. The only thought that was going on in my mind the whole time was that the people have
come to watch me and I have to put on a good show.
At the end of the event, I was delighted beyond measure when the audience of about 200, swarmed around me congratulating me for putting on a great show.
I feel that it’s a great achievement to have been awarded with a title “Nrithya Kala Bhushanam” from my guru Mrs. Meenakshi
Chitharanjan and such renowned personalities like Dr.Ambika Kameshwar and Mr.A.V.Ramanan, who were the chief guests of the
evening. I thank my guru Mrs. Meenakshi for training me so well and the
orchestra, for making this event happen. My special thanks to my parents for encouraging me and helping
me through this journey of dance.
