Current status of the complaint:
The Pasadena Unified School District completely ignored thenature of the complaint. Blanca complained about herdaughter's food being thrown away during lunch and aboutbeing threatened by Madison Elementary School principalJuan Ruleas. Mr. Ruelas threatened Blanca with callingimmigration agents if she went to the district to file acomplaint against him. Blanca was only exercising her rightsas a parent.

Blanca's race and identity are intersectional. She is a migrant women of color from Mexico. Mr.Ruelas is a tall white passing Latino. Blanca felt discriminated because she is a women, black, and animmigrant parent. In addition, the retaliation claim is based on her attempt to assert her right to filea complaint against Mr. Ruelas. He threaten her after she disclosed interest in going to the district.This incident occurred on 08/24/2015.

And 3) For the district to allow Blanca and other immigrantLatino parents to be part of the existing process that is in place to collectively choose the next schoolprincipal at Madison Elementary.
