Barrier RepairsThe flood and hurricane protection system in and around New Orleans is being restored to its condition beforeHurricane Katrina or in some cases improved. Here is a look at the major projects.

Earth is being moved torepair the 162 miles oflevees along the Mississippi River inPlaquemines Parish.

Flood gates are beingconstructed at the confluence of the canalswith Lake Pontchartrain.

Along the Inner HarborNavigational Canal, floodwalls are being replacedwith new concrete T-Wall.

Levees are being rebuiltalong the MississippiRiver Gulf Outlet, theright-of-way increasedand barges removed.
