Parks Referendum Projects 2000 —
In November 2000, the citizens of North Brevard, Merritt Island/Beaches and South Brevard County voted on three parks referendums funded by revenue bonds totaling over $70 million dollars.
The bonds will be paid by taxpayers over the subsequent 20 years—while currently building community and regional parks, boat ramps, and enhancing existing parks.

Parks Referendum Projects 2006 —
In November 2006, voters approved issuance of additional bonds totaling over $81 million dollars to complete Parks Referendum Projects approved in 2000 that were impacted by rising construction costs.
The millage approved for the 2000 Referendum generates enough revenue to repay both sets of bonds.
