Six Point System
Applications with Satellite Multiswitches.
Two coax feeds are needed for sat receivers with recording facility. Terrestrial (Freeview) is embedded in the feeds, so if a sat receiver needs two coax feeds and terrestrial is required at the same TV,fit a splitter with power through one port or filter on one of the feeds.

When calculating how long coax cables should befrom the switch to the outlet socket. To allow for variables in the signal levels the lossfrom the DY50A amplifier should not be more than50dB via the switches to the outlet..So allowing 20dB loss for the switch this providesup to 30dB for coaxial cable loss to the outlet viathe first switch in the chain. If a DY48A is used this has a through loss of 6dBso the next switch in cascade can drive a coaxialfeeder loss of 24dB and the next 18dB.Care has to be taken to calculate the coax cableand accessory losses accurately, and to take intoconsideration different signal levels received.
The TCLPTA 1.6A PSU is robust and has short circuit protection and has a wide input voltage window .One PSU will drive a quad LNB and 3x DY50A amplifiers ,up to 72 points

Above is a typical system distributing analogue or digitalsatellite channels plus terrestrial VHF and UHF.
For large systems this is the only optional way ofdistributing satellite if the running multiple undergroundtrunk cables is prohibitive .
Systems of over a thousand points can be constructedusing coax or tens of thousands of points using a hybridfibre/coax system The limitations to the size of system arethe same as existing cable networks except greater carehas to be taken in calculating frequency response errors athigher frequencies.
The limitations of using a single cable for distribution ofsatellite is bandwidth, and the software in sky digiboxesbeing unable to locate transponders, that have beenrelocated in the IF spectrum .There are various partial solutions to this softwareproblem, see our website ,but at the moment no completesolution unless Sky update the receiver software in thefuture.
As more channels are allocated various options can beused to optimize the available bandwidth .
For example, using satellite demodulators andremodulating , programmes that are broadcast clear in theUHF or VHF band , makes more capacity available in theone to two GHz spectrum for subscription programmes.
Digital broadcast make more efficient use of bandwidth andas broadcasters move over to digital more channels canbe distributed in the available bandwidth .If the most efficient current technology is used a singlecoax system can carry fourteen hundred and seventychannels.
