    INTRODUCTION

The Coalition Government has made many announcements on public services and finances in its first 100 days of office. We thought it would be usefulfor our subscribers to produce an easy-to-read briefing on some of the major policy announcements and publications so far which have implications forlocally delivered public services.

The briefing comprises of two easy, at-a-glance tables showing each major policy announcement and publication, who delivered it, the key points andwho will be affected by it. Table 1 gives the information broken down by month. Table 2 gives the information broken down by sector.

We have included announcements that affect the following services: all public sector local authorities police forces and authorities schools, colleges and early years health fire and rescue authorities criminal justice agencies.

Most of the announcements relate only to England, except those that affect all of the public sector, which also apply to Scotland and Wales. Theannouncements that relate to policing apply to England and Wales. Some of the local government announcements involve discussions with the WelshAssembly Government, for their possible application to Wales.

We hope that you will find this briefing useful. We will of course keep you updated on the progress of the Coalition Governments agenda via our events, publications, e-newsletters, website and e-mail alerts.
