    Amazingly, in New York they

    still serve this timeless classicon the rocks. Originally made

    with Canadian Club Rye

    Whisky, Angostura bitters andsweet vermouth. These days

    the rye whisky can besubstituted for Bourbon,

    Scottish (Rob Roy) or Irishwhiskey, and the Martini Rossofor Martini Bianco. If you cant

    make up your mind, why nottry a Perfect (both sweet and

    dry vermouth).

    7.50 - COSMOPOLITAN

    Popularized by the series Sex& the City, the Cosmopolitan

    is a combination of citrusvodka, Cointreau, cranberry

    juice and a squeeze of freshlime. Try a Hudson

    Cosmopolitan made with Stoli

    Orange, a Rude Cosmo withCuervo traditional tequila, or a

    Cinco Cosmo made fromlemon and orange infused

    Ketel One. All come with aflamed orange zest.

    FASHIONED

    Like the Martini, the glass this

    cocktail is served in has takenthe name of the drink. A labor-

    intensive procedure isabsolutely

    essential to perfect the taste ofthis drink. A good Old

    Fashioned will take 10 minutesto perfect as the blending of themakers mark, Angostura bitters

    and sugar requires gradualbuild and stir. Please be patient,

    trust usits worth the wait.The

    experimental person might likea Sazerac rinsed with absinthe.

    7.50 - BLOODY MARY

    Bloody Mary recipes are aspersonal as Martinis.

    Variations on the theme useeverything from Tanqueray Gin(Red Snapper), tequila (Bloody

    Maria), or whisky (BloodyJoseph) as a base. Purists will

    only use tabasco,

    Worcestershire sauce, salt andpepper, and lemon as spices

    but everything from oysters,horseradish, dry sherry, red

    wine, cucumber, garlic, onions,V8 and even ketchup can be

    added. If youre feeling a little

    hung-over, the B vitamins inthe tomato will certainly be

    helpful, although it works likemost

    pick-me-ups by getting you

    drunk. If you cant hack thepace, try a Bloody Shame

    (virgin).

    A classic aperitif of Campariand Rosso Vermouth, renamed

    by the Italians duringprohibition as an Americano

    an ambiguouscompliment to the huge amountof Americans who enjoyed thedrink. Poured over mounds ofice and finished with a citrusduet, soda is optional. For an

    Americano with more of akick, try a Negroni, just adding

    Tanqueray Gin to the

    combination.
