MISSIONARIES OF MERCY Paul’s back! After last week’s “violent abuse,” opponents organized a lynch mob that beat Paul near-ly to death. But call Paul the “energizing evangelist,” transforming deadly cruelty into life-giving zeal. Paul’s past courage should inspire our commitment; Revelation’s future “new heaven, new earth” should inspire our optimism. But Revelation’s present assur-ance, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race,” should challenge us to become “missionaries of mercy.” Because Pope Francis declared that the Church’s credibility is completely dependent on our showing unconditional mercy. Mercy, said Francis, makes the Church, the world, and everyone young again, reawakened to life’s noblest virtues. Fittingly, in today’s Gospel Jesus reinforces that theme: “This is how all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Catholic Charities of the East Bay There will be a collection this weekend to help those in need in our community. Your gift makes it possible for Catholic Charities to help people facing difficult circumstances move forward in life. This includes helping children who face perva-sive violence at school, home, or on the streets; families or sen-iors facing homelessness; and people fleeing violence in their homelands. Thank you for your support.

Fifth Graders …. 10 years old …. Preparing to jump up to Middle School.

Just what is on their minds?? Ask them to write a prayer and you might

learn how ABSOLUTLY AMAZING our children are….

Dear God, Thank you for being real and for helping us by

listening to our prayers. Thank you for always being amazing. I praise you to the

highest that I ever can. You will always be there for me and always have my back. Forever, I will stick with you until the day I die.

I pray for the people who maybe do something bad or

hurtful. Help them to be and do better.

I think of people who are homeless and don’t have the money to buy the things for life. Please give them all they need to help them survive through hard times.

For those who are blind, especially my cousin, Joslin. That they all have just as wonderful lives as we do.

Please help me help those in need even when times are

tough for me. Please help me on making the right decisions that can benefit others.

Please help those suffering from the loss of loved ones

and those suffering in hospitals. Please help them be happier and look on the bright side.

God, sometimes when I’m sad I will try and pray to you

and I’m so happy that even now you still listen. God, please make sure that my Grandma will be happy

again. You have done so much for me but I think it’s time to do something big for her.

Out of the mouths of babes … AMEN!

Thank you for advertising in our bulletin. We appreciate your support!

LETTER FROM POPE FRANCIS THE “JOY OF THE GOSPEL”

The Proclamation of the Gospel— Amen.

And so after 288 blessed weeks, we come to the close of the Joy of the Gospel. It has been a great joy to me trying to convey with Pope Francis that Jesus Christ came on earth to bring us Tidings of great Joy. What greater source of joy can there be, than to be-lieve that the great God Almighty loves us so greatly He becomes one like us. First, He made us in his image and likeness, and if that was not enough, He then became like us in the humanity of Christ. The turmoil of life, at times, is almost overwhelming. Still we must never, ever permit the pains of life to extin-guish in our hearts the joy of our belief in God's infinite love for us. Regular reflection helps to repel the constant onslaught of nega-tive attacks. So, we hope to continue our weekly remarks soon by reflecting upon Pope Francis' letter on the home that God has given us here as we wait in faith for our man-sions in Heaven. Fr Terry.
