SPARISH STEWARDSHIP Thank You for your generosity to Your Parish!

April 28, 2019

We are keeping up with technology! Our Parish provides Online Giving as an electronic tool for

contributions so you can contribute via the Internet. Online Giving helps you maintain your giving even if

you cannot be here at Mass. This also helps the Parish streamline our cash flow, especially during bad

weather or vacation times. Please go to our Parish website at www.stpatrickpottsville.org to get started.

The next Baptismal Workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 7 pm, in the Rectory Conference Room. Please call Deacon Jack Quirk at 570-622-1802, ext. 7, to register. Parents are required to register and attend a preparatory workshop before Baptism.

At the Last Supper, words of Jesus to the Father....."Few hours of my life are left: who would have the heart to leave my children orphaned and alone?......O please, I supplicate You to let Me stay in each Host...I cannot leave my children, nor do I want to."..........24 Hours of the Passion by Luisa Piccarreta (The Little Daughter of the Divine Will) Open Holy Hours: SUNDAY 12am, 4am; MONDAY 3pm; WEDNESDAY 10pm; THURSDAY 4am; FRIDAY 12am, 6am; SATURDAY 4am, 12pm - Please call or text Aleece @ 570-449-7678 for information.

SCAM ALERT! The Diocese of Allentown is alerting parishioners about an apparent scam. In the last week a number of people

from several different parishes have notified the Diocese that they received a text message on their cell

phone from someone pretending to be a Diocesan priest asking them to purchase gift cards for him.

These are not legitimate requests and are not from a Diocesan priest. No Diocesan priest will ever solicit

funds by text message or email. The Diocese is not aware that anyone has fallen victim

to this scam. But it does want to remind everyone if you are concerned about a text message or email you

receive, always verify it before you take any action!

Nativity Green and Gold will be sponsoring their annual Chinese Auction – May 4 (4-8 pm) and

May 5 (Doors open at 11 am – Auction starts at 2 pm.) Refreshments will be available. For questions, please

call Diane at 570-294-0551. Joy is more than a feeling – it comes from making choices that are pleasing to God. Try these tips to add joy to your life. Give three compliments every day. “Like golden apples in silver settings are words spoken at the proper time” (Proverbs 25:11). Look for the silver lining in every cloud. “Even though you meant harm to me, God meant it for good, to achieve His present end, the survival of many people” (Genesis 50:20). Make the best of any situation. “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Tip generously, give freely to the needy. “He who confers benefits will be amply enriched, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25). Say, “thank you,” often. “In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Sing in the shower. “But I shall sing of your strength, extol your love at dawn, for you are my fortress, my refuge in time of trouble”(Psalm 59:17). Trust God’s judgment more than your own. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

St. Patrick Parish Applauds!! Congratulations to Barbara Halcovage and Joseph Devine, our Parishioners, who were inducted into Nativity BVM High School’s Golden Cross Society! The Society of the Golden Cross was founded to honor those who, by the achievements of their lives, exemplify what it means to be truly “Nativity High School” at its best. The men and women who have been selected demonstrate the goals of the School. We are very proud of Barb and Joe, and their commitment to Nativity!

And….They’re Off!! Hudson passes Quincy and then Quincy passes Hudson and then Hudson passes Quincy and then Quincy passes Hudson, and in the end, Hudson came in Second Place (35:14) while Quincy came in a respectable Third Place (35:42) at Yuengling’s Lager Jogger! We are proud of the Clews Twins for representing St. Patrick Parish well…not only in the race, but in all they are involved in at Church! And, our Maxwell didn’t do too bad either in his category with a time of 29:40! And, Leah and Jason also ran the race as well, as Wyatt cheered his family onll! It really was a Clews Family Affair!

We LOVE to publish GOOD NEWS about our Parishioners! Please submit some to us so that we

can share!

During the month of MAY, we send “Best Wishes” to: …those who are celebrating “over 90” Birthdays: 5/6 Elizabeth Shirey (92 years) 5/18 Madeline McGovern (100 years) 5/18 Loreta DeStefano (91 years) 5/29 Nicholas Maccarone (90 years)

…those who are celebrating “over 50” Wedding Anniversaries: 5/1 Ronald & Susan Gontarchick (52 years) 5/4 Joseph & Dorothy Purcell (56 years) 5/7 Joseph & Patricia Stoffey (59 years) 5/11 Paul & Maryann Delpais (56 years) 5/16 Wade & Jane Schaeffer (55 years) 5/18 Marlin & Mary Jane Reed (51 years) 5/26 Robert & Velma Davis (63 years) As the Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is invoked every time we make the Sign of the Cross. In Baptism, He dwells in our souls and makes us children of God (Romans 8:15). He makes us receptive to God’s grace. He also teaches and helps us to pray. He guides and protects us, just as He guides and protects the Church. Through His gifts, He inspires and enables us to do the good we ought to do.

St. Patrick Parish Appreciates!! Thank you to everyone who made our regional Confirmation at St. Patrick Church a beautiful celebration! The power of the Holy Spirit definitely poured through the 55 young adults (from five different parishes) as only the Holy Spirit could, providing them with special gifts of courage, understanding, knowledge, wisdom, right judgment, piety, and wonder and awe (as expressed on our beautiful homemade banners)! At St. Patrick Parish, we know that this is an awesome Sacrament, and it takes a lot of people to help our teens study for this big event! Thank you to their teachers: Fr. Minner, Brigid Quick, and Karen Powers! Thank you also to Teresa Keating and Dale Verchick, who helped to guide them to this point! Thank you to Bishop Alfred Schlert, who administered the Sacrament, and to Msgr. Glosser, Fr. Loeper, Fr. Minner, and Deacon Jack who were in attendance, giving them holy support! Thank you to those who made our Liturgy wonderful especially our organist, musicians, cantor, and the beautiful voices who made up the choir, the awesome altar servers and the “right on top of things” ushers! Thank you to Helen Weiss, who made the reception lovely, to those who served as parking attendants, and to our Parish Staff. A special thank you to Bob Engle, who designed a very elaborate backdrop that made many “Kodak moments”! And, a special thank you to the parents, sponsors, and grandparents of these young people! Please continue to guide them on the right path so that they will always remember their Confirmation Day as a day that their faith was strengthened forever!
