Seaside Holiday

We had a brilliant holiday in a cottage in Dorset with Karl, Ruth, Lara and Alana.

We both continue to enjoy the varied activities in the U3A and I still teach computing, edit their newsletter and web site and I am also on the committee. Brenda’s U3A gardening group has turned her into a keen vegetable grower and we’ve had some great produce this year.

We started the year on a cruise with our friends Jean and Ian, leaving Dubai for Muscat and Kahsab in Oman then Abu Dhabi in UAE.

We’ve had three trips to London this year, one to see our friend Walter Trout in his “I’m Back” concert at The Royal Albert Hall, following his successful liver transplant. We’ve also been to Colchester, Te n by, L e a m i n g t o n S p a , Holmfirth and managed two

weeks on our narrowboat, with our life long friends Susan and Peter, who brought along a selection of home brewed ale! We had to cancel the another two weeks as Mum had several life threatening stays in hospital. We had a great long weekend in the beautiful city of Budapest.

No More Weekends Now in our sixth year of retirement we are very busy, but unlike those lucky people at work, we never get a weekend off! The bonus is of course, no more Monday morning blues I suppose.

Brenda and I often take Lara and Alana to a local soft play group where they run, jump, crawl, climb and bounce. They have great fun and of course are learning to interact with the

other children. Alana is now walking and follows her sister whenever she can. It’s lovely to see big sister Lara taking care of her little sister, and giving her a little cuddle.

RUTH & KARL have been busy bringing up their beautiful and very happy girls. It’s hard work but they are

doing a fantastic job. This year Karl has also become an expert in brewing real ales.

NIKKI is now assistant manager at her off licence. This year she visited a friend in Sydney, Australia and had an experience of a lifetime. Sun, sand and even scuba diving. Now she has been called up for jury service which will be a very interesting experience.

JACK has now started his two year college course to become a chef.

He is thoroughly enjoying it and is getting high marks on each test so far.

MUM has had a poor year with various health problems and

severa l s tays in hospi ta l including a two month stay. But as usual she pulled through and is back home and still smiling.
