CHRISTMAS BY CANDLELIGHT | Program Schedule 1. Visitor Center Vote for your favorite entry in the Village’s annual Gingerbread House Contest. 2. Small House Begin your Christmas by Candlelight adventure with the New England tradition of roasting chestnuts. 3. Friends Meetinghouse An annual favorite, the miniature nativity brings the Little Town of Bethlehem to life for young and old. 4. Center Meetinghouse Enjoy holiday favorites performed each night by regional musical groups – see reverse side for times. 5. Shoe Shop Visit with the shoemaker and his elves. 6. District School Enjoy classic Christmas stories as they are told in the Village’s 1810 one-room schoolhouse. 7. Pottery Shop Gaze as the Village potter fashions drinking vessels and talks of holiday libations. 8. Asa Knight Store Learn about the origins of gift giving in the Village’s 19th- century country store, complete with period toys and candy. 9. Law Office Discover the counting office of A Christmas Carol’s Ebenezer Scrooge. 10. Parsonage Visit the home of A Christmas Carol s Bob Cratchit and take in Mrs. Cratchit preparing Christmas dinner and cookies. You might also run into the Ghost of Christmas Present. 11. Parsonage Barn Learn the dance from the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol see reverse side for times. A. Parsonage Barn Refreshments Holiday favorites and hot beverages. 12. Tin Shop Try your hand at twisting and shaping a piece of tin into a decorative holiday ornament. 13. Salem Towne House Explore a series of Christmas vignettes in the 1796 Salem Towne House, including the first Christmas tree brought to New England by Charles Follen. Be sure to stop downstairs where they are baking gingerbread. 14. Printing Office Watch the Village printer at work and learn about the origin of Christmas cards. 15. Miner Grant Store and Bake Shop Open for holiday shopping, beverages and treats. 16. Center Common Enjoy the Village’s tree-lighting ceremony at 4:30 pm each night. Find strolling Victorian carolers, and a roaring bonfire. Visitors can also ride on a horse-drawn wagon or sleigh 4:00 to 8:00 pm (weather permitting). 17. Fitch House Celebrate Christmas 19th-century style with yule logs and wassail bowls. Guests are invited to raise a cup of Christmas cheer with a sample of mulled cider. 18. Fenno House Discover stockings hung by the chimney, as well as learn about the history of this holiday tradition. Welcome to North Pole Village! 19. Christmas Crafts Try your hand at making a holiday keepsake. 20. Santa’s Workshop While waiting to meet Santa, make your way through a giant The Night Before Christmas storybook illustrated by Charles Santore. Kids are also invited to write Santa during their wait. Note – The line for Santa can be lengthy, so please plan accordingly. 21. Christmas in Miniature Kids of all ages will love gazing at a complete New England Village. 22. Holiday Express Model Train Display Take in a G-scale holiday train display as well as other model trains. 23. Holiday Candle Dipping Create your very own Christmas taper from 3:30 to 7:30 pm each night. $4 per person 24. Elves Bunkhouse Pass by quietly as Santa’s elves are resting after a busy year of toy making!
