Respect: I worship God with reverence. I help take care of the church, and I listen carefully to the minister and my teachers. • I respect myself too much to harm my body or my mind. God created me as a unique person. There’s no one else just like me. • I am polite. I do not behave rudely. I do not force myself on others because respect is based on love. • I care about other people’s needs. I let other people go first. I do not

have a “me first” attitude. • I take care of my things. I do not damage other people’s property. • I give my seat to older people. I help them carry heavy packages and I greet them cheerfully and politely. I listen to what they say. • I never make fun of people who are different from me. • I will do what I can to help someone who is being picked on because he is different. I have friends of many different races and cultures, like

to learn how they live. I do not try to force them to be like me, because I respect our differences. • I do what people in authority ask me to do – the police, my teacher and principal, my parents. I am never rude to them. • I obey the rules of my community and my school. I also obey my family's rules. I do what I can to take care of the natural world. I do not harm living things or the environment.

Responsibility: I can be trusted to keep my commitments. • I am dependable. I will finish the job and even do a little extra. • I do my part to make a happy family.

• You can count on me. I will do my jobs well and keep my promises. • I really think about my actions and what they will mean to me and others. I make decisions based on careful consideration

and prayer about what God wants me to do. I can postpone pleasure right now because I know God has a better plan for me in the future.

Self-control: I am in control of my feelings. I don’t have to yell and shout or be angry when someone crosses me. I can control the situation calmly. • I eat what’s good for me. I don’t stuff myself with junk food every day. I don’t put harmful substances in my body, such as drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. • I work on keeping my life organized and scheduled so I can get things done. I try not to procrastinate, but to plan ahead. • I can wait for something I want when I know it’s better

to wait. • I follow the training rules for my sports team, even though it’s tough sometimes. • I don’t have to buy everything I see at the mall on the spot. I think about whether I need it and whether I can afford it before I part with my money. • I am determined to remain a virgin until I get married. It’s tough, but I know I can do it. I respect my dates and don’t get us in compromising situations. I want to give myself to my future souse morally pure. • I think even good things can be done

to extreme. If all the TV programs were good ones, would I watch them all? Of course not. I have to choose what is the very best. I can’t do everything that pops into my head. That’s what self-control is all about. It means turning off the TV or the computer game when I need to study. It means doing my chores before reading a book or playing ball. It means watching what I say and do.

I meet. I smile and greet them cheerfully. • I am kind and friendly to kids who are picked on by other people, or who have disabilities. • I try to help people who are hungry or sick or live in places where there is war. Sometimes I help in a soup kitchen or take food to a needy family. I give my

outgrown clothes to children who don’t have enough clothes. • I show my love for people and animals by being kind and compassionate to them. • When someone is nasty to me, I ask God to help me be forgiving.

Contentment & Thankfulness: I am happy with the playthings I have. I don’t beg and whine for more every time my family goes to the shopping mall. • I always say “Thank you” when I receive a gift. I write thank you notes to people who do nice things for me. • I am thankful to God for the wonderful things He has made

– for flowers and birds and plants and shells and dogs and cats. • I do something every week to take care of the world God made. • I love to give presents to my family and friends. I like giving them surprises. • Every day I say “Thank You” to God for the blessings He has given me that day.

• I am happy with the clothes I have. When I have outgrown my clothes, I give them to someone else who needs them. • I don’t envy other kids and the things they have. I take care of my things and am happy with what I have.

Patience & Perseverance: I don’t fly off the handle when I am irritated or someone crosses my path. I count to 10 and think, I can handle this problem. What choices do I have? Then I try to respond reasonably. • I try to wait patiently when I can’t have what I want. I know I can’t have everything right now. Maybe there are some things I can never have. I have to accept

disappointments and move on. • I don’t interrupt people when they are talking. I wait for my turn. • I stick by a job until it is done. I don’t run off to play when it gets boring or hard. • I try to think carefully about my choices and make a good decision. I try not to be impulsive and in too much of a hurry to think. • When I get stuck on a project and don’t know what to do next,

I don’t give up. I try to find help and figure out what to do. • When I’m doing a big project, I try to plan little goals so I will finish by the deadline. I try to be patient with people who are slow or who don’t catch on as quickly as I do. • Love never gives up, so if I love someone I don’t give up on them, no matter what.

Humility: I am cooperative, I try to avoid fighting, and resolve my problems peacefully. • I work hard to do my very best, but I don’t brag about it. • I try to react calmly, instead of becoming agitated or angry over things that I don’t like. • If someone is mean to me, I try to remember that it is really their problem. • I try to be understanding. • I am a good team

Loyalty & Commitment: I will stand by my family no matter what happens, because I love them. If someone teases or pesters my younger sister, I will defend her. We stick together. • I keep my promises to my family and my friends. They can count on me. When I say I will do something for them, I mean it, even though I might have to sacrifice something else to keep my promise. • I will be loyal to what my parents have taught me about what is right and wrong because I love them. • I don’t gossip about my friends, or anyone else. I want to guard their reputation. Gossip hurts people. • I love my country and what it stands for. I respect my country’s flag. I do my part to be a good citizen.

When I am older I will learn how the government is run and I will vote at elections. I will help defend my country, if needed. • I am careful to choose friends who will be loyal to me, because loyalty is two-way. I choose friends who believe in the values I do. Although I am friendly to everyone, I choose my close friends with great care. • I can keep a secret. That is one way I show my love and loyalty to friends and family. • I believe God wants me to have a happy home when I grow up. I know that it takes time to find the right person to marry. When I marry, I will promise God to be loyal and committed to my spouse. I will always keep that promise. It is one of the most important promises I

will ever make, so I will be very careful to ask God to help me find the right person to marry. I can be loyal to that person now by keeping myself a virgin until I marry. • I give my boss a full day’s work. I do not shirk work or bad-mouth the boss or place I work. I do my very best. • I am enthusiastic and supportive of good causes. You can count on me for school spirit day and to support the class car wash to raise money for our class trip. • I will also keep my promise to be loyal to God. Sometimes that takes a lot of courage He will help me when there is a tough decision to be made. Because God loves me and is loyal to me, my loyalty to God must come first.
