Dear Friend,

The outreach and influence of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade continueto increase. The Printing Press which we installed a few months ago has achieveddramatic savings in our printing costs and a consequent increase in the number ofpamphlets and booklets which are being circulated.

As in most healthy, growing infants the appetite of the Printing Press forpaper, inks etc is increasing . The more we print, the greater the demand . That isexactly the way it ought to be . This aspect of our work is pleasing, but, of course,it automatically creates problems . For instance, when we produced " The Commun-ist Mind" we found that many people requested quantities for free distribution . Wewelcome these requests . We believe that the outreach comes first and that the fin-ancial considerations must follow.

Our whole programme has met with a most encouraging response . We receiveletters from all states of Australia and from overseas which indicate a very favourablereception of our work. Continuing requests for literature, tape recordings and filmsare being received . Our Radio programmes are meeting with a favourable response. Our lecturers are being enthusiastically received wherever they appear.

It is only in the financial field that we have experienced difficulty, This appliesparticularly to money for our local needs . (The financial response to our missionaryprogramme has been encouraging). Last week, for instance, our income was £40 lessthan our expenditure, and over the last six months there has been a deficit of morethan £1, 000 . This deficit has been met by securing short term loans from some ofour friends . These now have to be repaid and we are confident that you will wish tohelp repay them.

We are delighted with overall response . The members of the Crusade staff areenthusiastic in their desire to reveal Communism's true nature but we cannot do areally effective task unless our finances are stablized. It would be tragic if we had tocurtail any aspect of our vital work . The Communists continue to slice thinly and toslice often at the areas of the free world while Communist territory remains inviolate. To maintain our freedom, it is vital that we expose the tactics which they employ.

We need, and we need urgently : (1) an immediate sacrificial gift to meet ourpressing needs . (2) Regular supporters who will give 101- or £l or more each month. This can be done in one of the following ways . (1) By using the enclosed card and pre-paid envelope . After each month's payment we would receipt the card and return it toyou with another envelope for the next month's payment . (2) By arranging with yourBank Manager to remit a fixed amount each month to the Crusade's bank account.Receipts for the amounts would be written and forwarded with the quarterly Newsletter.

Our work is of great importance and it must not be hamstrung because of ourfinancial limitations . Will you help us to get on with the vital task of educating peopleto the true nature of Godless Communism which, if exposed, can be dramatically de-feated.

Yours very sincerely,

Elton ils on, Director.

Dear Friend,

The perilous position occupied by Australia in a vulnerable zoneof a troubled world concerns all thoughtful people . We all desire a world offreedom for ourselves and our children but the signs continue to grow moreominous that this desire may prove delusional . The atheistic and aggressiveCommunist forces threaten to overwhelm us e

The perplexing problem is what to do . Awareness of the dangerand an inability to do anything to stop it are frustrating indeed.

The Christian Anti-Communism Crusade is making a valiant effortto grapple with this problem . The essential elements of an effective campaignare informed and skilful workers, the necessary tools of communication (in-cluding literature, films and the spoken word) and adequate financial support.

The Crusade can provide the first two of these requirements butthe third is lacking . The workers, led by Mr . Elton Wilson, are informed, eloquent and dedicated. The literature produced is of fine quality and there isan abundance of tape recordings and films °

I am concerned that many who approve of the work of the Crusadeare unaware of the financial need ° Mr . Wilson relinquished a profitablebusiness to accept the position of Director of the Crusade . He has not receivedone penny of salary or remuneration from Australian sources . He addressesscores of meetings and from the majority he does not receive even travellingexpenses .

To carry on, it has been necessary in the past year for the AmericanCrusade to subsidise the Australian work to the extent of £3, 000-0-0 . In additionto this a debt of £1, 250-0-0 was incurred, This is money which could be spentmost profitably in a country like Indonesia.

The answer to the financial dilemma is for those who desire todefeat Communism to share the financial burden . If we can recruit 1,000regular monthly supporters our problem will be resolved. In America theCrusade has 50, 000 supporters . Is is visionary to believe that 1,000 can befound here .?

Please become a Share Partner in our programme . Fill in theaccompanying card and return it with the assurance that you will be giving activesupport to the forces of freedom, and helping the Cause of Christ who came tomake men free.

Since the situation is so serious and the need is urgent, pleaseaccept this frank appeal and act at once .

Yours very sincerely,

(Fred C . Schwarz)

Dear Christian Friend,

Recent world events do not leave a great deal of room for complacency.During 1963, while certain waves have receded, the evidence confirms that thetide continues to flow in favour of Communism. The Communists can surveytheir annual balance sheet with confidence . There are more people under Com-munist tyranny now than at any previous time in history.

The problem of Communism must be faced if our every-day freedomsare to survive . Such freedoms as the right to worship as one chooses, theright to influence one's children as one chooses, the right of free associationand of free expression have become so commonplace in our Society that mostpeople seldom think about them.

It has been well said that " Freedom is only one generation removedfrom slavery" and it is the responsibility of each of us to play our part inpreserving the freedom which exists within our Society. Before we can beeffective in the struggle against Communism it is absolutely necessary that weunderstand its real nature.

As the enclosed invitation shows, it is the aim of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade to conduct a public dinner at The Canberra Hotel, Edwardand Ann Streets Brisbane, on Thursday January 16th at 6 . 30 p . m. The tarifffor the dinner will be 12s . 6d. and the speaker will be Brisbane-born Dr . Fred.Schwarz .

We trust that you will be able to attend and that you will encourage yourfriends to accompany you . As this will be Dr. Schwarz's only meeting in Brisbaneduring his current visit, we are anxious to make it an outstanding success and wehope that you will be able to help to make it so.

We look forward to meeting you on January 16th.

Sincerely yours in Christian Service,

Dear Christian Friend,

Instead of our NewsLetter, we enclose this month, a copy of " TheCommunist at Work" . This is a chapter of Dr . Schwarz's book " YouCan Trust the Communists " . We have published it at this time becausethe Communists are becoming increasingly active in Australia through" front " organisations . This subtle approach of Communism has beenquite successful in duping many people of goodwill.

An understanding of the basic Communist techniques will go a longway towards preventing the manipulation of good people by the Commun-ists

We are particularly anxious to distribute this booklet to Universitystudents because a great deal of Communist effort is being directed tothis area.

Would you help in the distribution in the following way?

(1) By requesting from us further copies for distribution to yourUniversity friends,

(2) By generously supplying us with funds to make possible the widedistribution of Crusade literature including " The Communist atWork" and " You Can Trust the Communists . "

CONCLUSION.

Communism is not a " working man's movement " , although it pre-tends to be such . It is a movement of ruthless, godless intellectualswho attempt to scientifically manipulate all strata of society . The Com-munists have been generally successful beyond their wildest dreams, butwherever there has been an understanding of their tactics, they have beensingularly unsuccessful.

Your assistance will help us to tear away the veil of deceit which is anecessary part of Communist advance.

Sincerely yours in Christian Service,

Dear Friend,

A few months ago many people believed that Communism, as asignificant force, had ceased to exist . This produced a climate of com-placency which has worked tremendously to the Communists° advantage.

Recent world events, as well as those of a more local nature, have tended to dissipate some of this complacency.

It is the belief of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade thatthe only effective basis for counter-action to Communism is knowledge. We have maintained this viewpoint since our inception and it is en-couraging to see that many thinking people are appreciating the wisdomof this approach . It is of vital concern to us that the widespread know-ledge of the true nature of Communism be imparted to Australian Youthand with this in view we have decided to conduct a series of YouthRallies .

The first of these will be held at Willard House, Ann Street,Brisbane, (opposite City Hall) and the second will be held at the MasonicHall, Pacific Highway, Hornsby, N .S .W.

We would appreciate it if you would make either of these meetingsknown to any Young People of your acquaintance.

We promise to those who attend an evening which will be interestingand challenging and which will be attuned to the needs of the Youth of today.

Yours very sincerely.

P. S . We enclose some invitations which we trust you will be able to use

Dear Christian Friend,

In recent weeks the Communists have met with dramatic successes . In the India-Pakistan dispute the Chinese Communists have cleverly manipulated the Pakistanis andin so doing have gained a tremendous amount of influence in that area . At the same timethe Russian Communists have been able to appear as peace-makers in this dispute and asthe saviours of India against the Chinese aggression at the Sikkim border . The total effecthas been to increase the power of the two Communist giants and to cause a serious decreasein the influence of the West.

At our doorstep Indonesia is pursuing policies which are in many ways indistinguish-able from those of the Communists Banning of all types of Anti-Communist activity inIndonesia is a matter of very great concern . The establishment of a Communist Party inWest Irian must inevitably be the forerunner of infiltration and subversion in Papua andthe rest of New Guinea.

The present situation is very black indeed, but it is by no means hopeless. One ofthe great areas where hope exists is to be found in the fact that Communism runs counterto the normal stream of human emotion Communism, is, by its own definition, a formof slavery.

The tragedy is that those people who are more and more coming under direct Com-munist influence are not fully aware of the totalitarian nature of Communism . Many of ournorthern neighbours do not know that if Communism comes to power there will be an assaultupon their family rights, their rights of association, their right of criticism and theirreligious freedom The alleged economic improvement has never proved to be a substitutefor the right to exercise ones own basic desires . The choice of those who are conquered be-comes brutally narrow - flee, submit or be crushed . If our northern neighbours are con-quered it is predictable that many will attempt to seek refuge in other countries . Whithershall they flee? And if the conquest of our northern neighbours results in our eventual con-quest whither shall we flee? Or shall we submit?

It is plain common sense as well as a Christian duty to ensure that Communism doesnot conquer Since Communism runs counter to human emotion it can only come to power bydeception and it must remain in power by force.

The Communist Party of Australia has an income estimated at £250, 000 per annum.(Yes, one quarter of a million pounds every year!) This massive amount of money is beingdirected to the destruction of all that we hold dear,

The whole of the programme of the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade is directed toexposing the deception of the Communists during their phase of attempted conquest . It is amatter of great concern to us that our programme has thus far been limited by a totally in-adequate income There is so much that can be done and so little time in which to do it. Ifwe could be released from the day to day strain of financial existence the efforts which theCrusade could make would be rewarded out of all proportion to their size . At the presenttime our financial survival depends upon help from the Christian Anti-Communism Crusadein America In other words the ordinary American people, who are our main supporters inthe United States, are subsidising the Australian Crusade's attempts to keep Australia free.Surely we Australians are as concerned about our own freedom as the Americans are abouttheirs and ours . Surely freedom loving people can match the sacrifice of the Communistswho desire the destruction of freedom . Will you help us to initiate a programme which willyet bring about the defeat of a Godless monopolistic force? Will you contribute generouslyor become a share partner in the Christian Anti-Communism Crusade? Together let us makesacrifices to ensure that future generations of Australians will enjoy the privileges whichhave been bequeathed to us? A share partner card, which we hope you will use, is enclosed.

1st November, 1966.

Dear Christian Friend,

Not so long ago the Communists throughout the world were confident thattheir victory was both assured and imminent . In some areas this confidence ledto arrogance . The Communists became so sure of victory that they apparentlyfelt that the mask was no longer necessary . Like so many of their predecessorsin tyranny the lust for power clouded their sober judgment.

At the present time some of the Communists are complaining - they arenot quite so vocal in espousing their theory of "inevitability" . But, surprisinglyenough, they continue to believe that as surely as the sun rises, they will go on tofinal victory . Each setback is regarded by the faithful Communist as a manifesta-tion of the continuing power of "reaction" and their blind faith in their own "pro-gressive" nature gives to them the confidence (sometimes arrogant - sometimesquiet) that they will be victorious.

The events of the past couple of years should have proved conclusively theutter absurdity of many of Communism's claims . It has become abundantly clearthat Communism is an untenable doctrine rejected en masse by the very people whotheoretically should support it . Setbacks in Brazil, Ghana, Algeria, Indonesia,Vietnam and elsewhere as well as the deep divisions now evident in the Communistcamp have dulled the edge of their previously dangerous blade.

Despite this, Communism still poses a serious threat to our security . Thisthreat will remain for some time to come . The doctrine of the exclusive right ofany group to rule is an exceedingly dangerous one . Not the slightest evidence existsto suggest that the Communists have been chosen of history, and yet at the heart ofCommunist doctrine this false belief resides . A continuing threat to the rights offree men is posed by the very existence of such a belief and of a powerful party ableto propagate it . That is why those who love freedom and who believe that tyrannyshould have no place in our society, find it necessary to engage in programmes ofeducation regarding the true nature of Communism.

It is because of this necessity that the Christian Anti-Communism Crusadecarries out its educational programmes . This is done by means of frequent publiclectures, the screening of films, the distribution of tapes and literature, radiobroadcasting, etc . There can be no doubt of the effectiveness of our programmes, but they are limited because of the limitations of finance . This letter is written inthe hope that you will make a sacrificial gift so that this vital work can not onlycontinue, but expand.
