As you read, you are responsible for the following:

Journal Entries – 50 points

• Divide your novel in 10 sections.

• After reading a section, respond to a prompt. Each prompt should be different. You should have 10 responses each worth 5 points at the conclusion of your novel.

Journal Entries

1. Each journal should be written on a clean sheet of paper, front only. The journals may be typed. Or written in your RNB.

2. Each journal must contain a minimum of 50 words.3. Hi-light your textual support—information from the

story that supports and develops your idea/s.4. Each journal must have the number of that journal, the

title of the book, and the segment covered written on the top line. The number of the prompt you are responding to must be written in the left margin next to the first line of your journal response.

Prompt # 13: Emma’s actions in chapter 18 remind me of whenI had to make an important decision that my parents were not exactly happy with. My parents really wanted me to attend an out-of-province college, but I wanted to attend one closer to home. I knew that I would have to make the decision because it would be one that could affect my life forever. After a long debate, my parents finally agreed to let me attend the college of my choice. I learned to stick to my guns when it came to personal decision making.
