The Chishakwe Camp is a small, private camp situated on the sublimely tranquil and shaded banks of the Msaize River.

Visitors receive a high standard of freshly prepared food and discreet service in an environment that still allows them to experience the daily nuances and occasional dramas of the surrounding African bush. Each of the five comfortable, two bed thatched chalets has an en suite shower/ bathroom and a private balcony overlooking the river

At Chishakwe, we happily accommodate special occasions…

There are a number of ways in which to spend days at Chishakwe; depending on the mood and interests of the visitor.

If adventure beckons; tracking animals on foot or on horse back are exciting options; or climbing a kopje to look down on an eagle’s nest.

Canoeing and fishing get visitors out on the water. The Big Dam is home to several Bass and Bream Fish species as well as crocodiles. The fishing at Chishakwe Dam is considered to be partcularly good by a number of keen fishermen.

Game drives assist in exploring some of the stunning and diverse scenery of the ranch as well as allowing for the possibility of seeing game. Night drives with a spotlight offer visitors a rare chance to see some of the nocturnal bird and animal species.

Time spent at a hide offers visitors quiet time to see animals at their most natural and relaxed. Taking the time to learn about some of the smaller life forms and, ecologically speaking, the bigger picture can be incredibly rewarding. Our fully qualified and experienced guides offer a wealth of fascinating information.

The Conservancy is home to several fascinating ongoing research projects:

The Chishakwe Community Project allows neighbouring villagers to benefit from their vicinity to the Conservancy. It represents a key element of the overall conservation policy.

The Chishakwe Crafts Project represents one aspect of the Community Outreach Project. Natural materials are locally hand crafted into beautifully finished original design objects.

Chishakwe is actively involved in Research and Conservation. There are several localized as well as Conservancy wide projects involved in the research and/or protection of specific species. We are also committed to monitoring and analyzing the environment as a whole in order to continue developing our ranch and conservation management programmes.

The Chishakwe Gap Year Programme encompasses every aspect of a real life modern conservation effort. Participants have the chance to practically contribute and learn in cultural and humanitarian facets of the project as well as the ranch work, game monitoring, occasional capture and release work and research projects.
