China has established itself as a world leader in AI and Machine Learning. China’s AI market reached £4.7 billion in 2018, accounting for 60% of global AI financing. Strong government support, a vibrant tech ecosystem, and increasing flows of investment capital have created the environment for China to challenge the US as a leading global AI superpower. Along with established tech giants such as Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent, China is home to a new generation of innovative AI entrepreneurs and scale-ups. The UK itself is a world leader in AI/Machine Learning, with a strong University research base, leading institutions and a vibrant ecosystem of start-ups, corporates, and VC investors. With more than 500 AI companies of varying scale, the UK has become a leading global player in developing AI technologies for a range of industries and applications. The week-long mission will act as a catalyst for collaboration, exploration and expansion of leading UK AI companies in China. The mission will include visits to three of China’s most important emerging hubs for tech/AI industry – Shanghai, Beijing and Jiangs province. The mission will include a visit to WMC Shanghai, Asia’s leading event for next-generation technology, to network with leading tech sector players and practitioners. The visit will also provide the opportunity to take part in Nanjing Innovation Week, and to visit Zhongguancun (China’s ‘Silicon Valley’) in Beijing.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants specialising in any of the following areas: • Big data analytics; • Predictive analytics and machine learning; • Computer vision and visualization; • Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) ; • IoT / M2M connections; • Integrated circuits and chip design; • Robotic process and automation; • Healthcare AI • Cybersecurity.

Mission Programme*

Mission Fees Mission registration is £500+VAT per delegate. The Fee for CBBC members (SMEs) is £200+VAT. Travel, Accommodation and Visa Fees exclude any travel and accommodation costs. CBBC will recommended suitable travel options for international flight and domestic transfer, as well as recommended hotel for each leg of the mission. It is recommended that all delegates arrange their own Chinese visa ahead of the mission (further information available on request).
