AFTER SCHOOL ART CAMPS!

For young artists aged 7-10, the After School Art Camps are the perfect way for kids to delve into a fantastic range of artforms!

Taking place throughout the Fall, each week-long Art Camp runs for five sessions, from 3:30-5:00pm,

Monday to Friday. Sign up for a single week of classes, register for a couple of different art forms,

or join us for all five weeks of creative fun!

CLAY $27 October 5 - October 9, 2015 Clay Studio Spend the week creating in clay! Children will have the chance to work with wet clay, to draw and to paint on bisqueware.

PUPPETS $27 October 19 - October 23, 2015 Lock’s Pharmacy Toddler Studio Come and play with puppets! Kids will perform stories and skits, with lots of laughs and fun!

MINECRAFT ART $27 November 2 - November 6, 2015 Arts and Craft Studio Create real life pixel art that mimics Minecraft, including perspective drawing and sculpture.

SPONGEBOB CRAFTS $27 November 16 - November 20, 2015 Arts & Craft Studio Visit Sponge Bob and all your favourite characters from the TV show with these under-the-sea themed arts and crafts session!

MINION CRAFTS $27 November 30 - December 4, 2015Arts & Crafts Studio Draw on the mischevious energy of the hit movie’s signature char-acters with this Minion-themed arts and crafts class! Students will make a variety of crafts inspired by the Minions movie.

Know kids that have always wanted to be an actor for film and TV? In these on-camera classes students will get to act and try scenes from movies, TV shows, and commercials. Calling all kids that love animation and stopmotion! If the kids love to create their own characters, play with lego, or watch animation, this is the class they’ve been waiting for! Learn to create a story, use still cameras, and learn four different computer programs. The best videos will be shown at a public screening at the class finale.

Only work produced at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre from clay purchased here can be fired in our kilns. These sessions are not designed to accomodate production potters but to allow students to independently develop their skills. Drop-in work will be glazed during a scheduled drop-in session.

The ability to draw the human figure is an essential artform and vital to those who wish to continue to develop their observational drawing skills.

The Life Drawing Studio is an open studio for professional and emerging artists, students, and anyone interested in drawing the human form. People work independently and at their own level of experience. While no formal instruction is provided, support and encouragement is given. A variety of male and female models with different body shapes and ages are booked for the open studio.

POTTERY

EASY AS 1-2-3Clay Studio (adult) $99Sarah Belley 6:00 to 9:00pm• Thursdays (3 sessions) October 1 - October 15, 2015 Want to try a ceramics class but can’t commit to a full semester? This class is for you!

Three classes over three weeks will give you an introduction to ceramics and see you through all stages of creating objects in clay. Week one will be creating small objects in wet clay, week two will be working with dry and bisqued clay, and week three will be focused on glazing and surface techniques. A great class to take if you are interested in participating in open studios or self-directed projects.

This class will cover numerous dish making processes as well as many interesting surface techniques.

Students will be taken through the entire process from creating on the wheel to the finishing off of their work through glazing and firing. This is an eight week course, with seven weeks of wheel work and one of glazing.

This non-instructional class will provide students with the opportunity to sculpt a life form figure, modelling one pose over four three-hour sessions. This format allows students to fully explore the contours and essence of the body in an in-depth manner, while encouraging the development of sculpting skills.

Clay and firing are not included in cost. Students may bring their own clay or purchase from The Centre Box Office.

Learn how to create a bead from molten glass using a torch and glass rods. Experiment with stringers, frit, and dots and have fun learning a new hobby! Glass alchemy, studio set up, and safety will also be discussed.

Each week students will learn and explore a specific jewellery-making technique; making glass beads, fusing glass to metal, and hand forging metal and wire with hammers. All these are ancient techniques still practised today... but with a modern twist! All equipment including earrplugs included.
