In the 19th century the lifeof many peasant familieswere similar to each other.They lived in the samevillage and did the samework. Children performsimple errands, help withthe housework andworked for food. Oftenchild’s labor was used indifferent manufactures:wooden, teacompanies,textiles,printing.

Children had problems with health a their physicaldevelopment was slow. In addition, child’s labour preventededucation. Some children who were forced to work foundhours spent at school as relaxation.

At the end of 19th century there was a law in Russia thatprohibited to employ children under 12 years old. Forchildren aged 12-15 it was limited to 8 hours a day. Also,the law forbade night and Sunday shifts. Business ownershad to "provide an opportunity“ to children to get primaryeducation. Children could attend school for at least 3 hoursper day or 18 hours a week.
