ACCESS SERVICES

Parents and caregivers can receive CFOSP

services by calling 905-634-2347 x. 439

Families will be seen for an initial

consultation within a few weeks to provide them with immediate

assistance and to determine which

CFOSP services may be useful to their

family.

EARLY DEVELOPMENT IS FUNDAMENTAL TO THE GROWTH OF YOUR CHILD

CFOSP PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES Psychological assessments/consultations are considered for children when there is a concern about learning, cognitive and/or social emotional functioning. The assessment process may consist of interviews with parents and other professionals, observation of the child, and individual testing. CFOSP Psych services are available to children who fit the CFOSP referral criteria.

CFOSP THERAPY SERVICES Therapy helps families, or individuals within a family understand and improve the way they interact with each other. Children who fit the CFOSP criteria for referral are eligible for Therapy Services.

At times play is used to help parents/caregivers learn to read their child’s cues and understand their behaviour in order to strengthen the parent/child relationship. Within this relationship, a child learns to feel secure, regulate emotions, and interact socially.

CFOSP GROUPS

Caregiver education and treatment groups may be offered to families, children and child care staff residing in Halton region.

Treatment groups address different issues and needs, for example, positive parenting strategies, developing secure parent-child attachment, and parents learning to support their child’s anxiety.

CFOSP BEHAVIOUR CONSULTATION AND

SUPPORT SERVICES

Consultants work with parents/caregivers helping them understand the social,

emotional and developmental needs of children. Consultation and support is available to the childcare centre staff

regarding a child’s specific needs. Childcare staff may confidentially contact a member of

the CFOSP team to discuss specific difficulties they may be experiencing.
