What matters most in choosing the best treatment center for your child or adolescent?

Treatment should provide “informed care”

Supported by a safe environment, each patient progresses through a clinical program that is “informed” by evidence-based treatment interventions and developed by clinicians who have substantial experience and expertise. “Care” means that we take your child’s safety and recovery personally and that we are committed to learning who your child is and what is causing his or her difficulties.

u Primary therapists work with a small caseload of three patients each to ensure personalized treatment and that more than 25 hours weekly are spent in direct contact with your child.

u Educationally, each patient has the opportunity to remain enrolled in school during his or her stay at Eating Recovery Center. In a specialized classroom environment, an onsite teacher monitors the individual progress of each student and offers guidance, support and supervision. Each student is assigned a personal laptop for schoolwork and other activities.

u We provide an innovative family program with the goal of helping parents become agents of change for their loved ones. This valuable family involvement has three components. In the first component, families will be contacted at least twice a week for assessment, treatment updates and beginning family therapy. The second component includes participation in Family Week that occurs once a month. The third component involves requesting that one or both parents reside in Denver for two to four weeks to participate in modified Family Based Treatment (also referred to as Maudsley Family Treatment). During this time, your child progressively transitions to staying with you during nights and weekends. Parents will be actively involved with the treatment team to learn how to support their child’s transition to outpatient care and return home.

What matters most is that you feel confident that your child receives expert care during his or her treatment for a severe eating disorder. At Eating Recovery Center’s Behavioral Hospital for Children and Adolescents, we provide just that – nationally recognized experts providing evidenced-based treatment in a facility specifically designed for children and adolescents, resulting

in lasting recovery.
