Leda Santodomingo

Leda Santodomingo is a reporter for Telemundo in Chicago. She has received numerous awards and recognitions including a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in production at the University of Northridge, California. As part of her training, Santodomingo served as an intern at Channel 52, Los Angeles and was hired as a reporter and news announcer in 1986-87. She has been nominated for Emmy awards on several occasions for her research work, including “The Tragedy of Vargas” in Venezuela and in 2003 for a “Marriage Of Convenience,” a special report on Telemundo.

Jesse White is Illinois’ 37th Secretary of State. White was first elected to the office in 1998 and was re-elected to a third term in 2006, having received 63 percent of the vote statewide. In 1959, White founded the internationally known Jesse White Tumbling Team to serve as a positive alternative for children residing in and around the Chicago area. Since its inception, more than 10,700 young men and women have performed with the team. White has spent more than 47 years working as a volunteer with the team to help kids stay away from gangs, drugs, alcohol and smoking, and to set them on the path to success. In 2006, the team made more than 1,500 performances throughout the nation. White also served our country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division and as a member of the Illinois National Guard. He played professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs organization, which was followed by a 33-year career with the Chicago public school system as a teacher and administrator.

ChriStian Farr

Since 2006, Christian Farr has served as a correspondent on WTTW11’s “Chicago Tonight.” Prior to joining WTTW11, Farr was nominated for an Emmy as host of Fox Spotlight Black History Month in 2002 and for the Ray of Hope series in 2003. He has also been recognized for his outstanding contributions to broadcast journalism by both the New York State and Ohio Broadcasters Associations. In 2000, Farr won the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism award for a series on Dangerous Roads in Ohio. In addition, he received several civic and community awards in the Dayton and Philadelphia areas, including Adult Achiever with the Philadelphia chapter of the YMCA, and a Community Involvement award from the National Association of Black Law Enforcement of New Jersey. Karen Jordan

Karen Jordan co-anchors the #1 rated weekend newscast in Chicago, the ABC 7 Weekend News. Jordan, who grew up in Evanston, Ill., joined ABC 7 Chicago in July 2003. Jordan has been recognized for excellence throughout her career. In 2003, she was named a Rising Star by Today’s Chicago Woman. She was honored with the YMCA Black Achiever Award in 2000 and received the Bethune Recognition for women in the media from the National Council of Negro Women in 1999. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Jordan graduated from Spelman College with a B.A. degree in English in 1994. She earned a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in 1995. Juan rangeL

Juan Rangel serves as Chief Executive Officer of the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO), the largest Hispanic community-based organization in Chicago. Since becoming CEO in 1996, Rangel has expanded activities within the city of Chicago, as well as among the quickly-growing suburban Hispanic communities. Among other accomplishments, Rangel opened the Octavio Paz Charter School in 1998. Since then, UNO has been approved to open a total of 10 campuses by 2008, including its first campus outside of Illinois, in New Orleans, LA.
