Community To meet the needs of a growing population, Chapel Hill High School opened in 1999 as the fourth high school in Douglas County. The school is located on Chapel Hill Road in the southeast section of the county. Chapel Hill is currently composed of approximately 1,400 students and competes in Region 5AAAA for sports and activities. Curriculum Chapel Hill operates on a 4 x 4 schedule, with students completing four classes each semester. Classes are 95 minutes, and students take final exams at the end of each semester. The school offers a wide variety of classes, including advanced academics, fine arts, and Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE). Magnet Chapel Hill High School launched its Advanced Placement (AP) Magnet Program in the fall of 2014 to provide increased opportunities for students looking to accelerate their learning. Students throughout Douglas County may apply for the AP Magnet Program at Chapel Hill during fall of their 8th grade year. Since the program is not a cohort, students throughout the county may also apply for the AP Magnet program during the annual application window as a freshman, sophomore, or junior. Chapel Hill High School added the AP Capstone Program to its Advanced Placement Magnet Program in 2016-2017. The AP Capstone is a diploma program that enhances the student's college preparation experience by adding an independent research component. AP students who wish to be considered for the AP Capstone Program must take two additional AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. American College Testing (ACT) The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of curriculum based subject area tests. It is scored on a scale from 0 to 36. For more information, go to www.act.org.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) The SAT is a globally recognized college admissions test designed to assess academic readiness for college through student reasoning based on knowledge and skills. The maximum score is 800 for each section for a total possible score of 1600.
